Apparently the Queen is low carb!

Royalty eat very little processed food as you might expect. Prince Charles eats salmon and eggs for breakfast - no lunch and a good dinner. I tend to follow that as he has access to the best advice available and I can't offhand think of any overweight Royal ...

Infographic; trying to get the message over in a picture. feedback please

I like it a lot. I would add some 'carrot pics' too such as bacon and sausage or chicken wings etc so people are aware that we can eat good food too!

    Concerned about aspartame?

I used to work in HW for Searle and there are lots of stories - some still relevant and true. Horse urine is still used as well as maggots. I was reading elsewhere that 100 years ago the first line management guidance for diabetes was excercise!

    Exercise and blood sugars

Exercise can do far, far more than metformin or any other diabetes drug in terms of lowering sugar levels. This is widely acknowledged in the medical world.

    History of Diabetes

That's a fine age to reach in the 1890's. In contrast sugar is ubiquitous now.

    Concerned about aspartame?

I'm going to try to stop using sweeteners as I can't get rid of the pain in my feet despite long term tight control.

How to help someone with diabetes?

Is he married or does he have a partner? It may be worthwhile enlisting the help of someone else to have a look in the cupboards and see what food could be swapped for low carb alternatives. Quite often things can be changed without a person even being aware that they have been changed - good luck.

    History of Diabetes

It seems the medical profession managed the condition better in the 1920's.

    Fizzy drinks & artificial sweeteners

New research - I find this interesting as I use artificial sweeteners most days but I'm very well controlled at non-diabetic levels. http://news.sky.com/story/1523104/sugary-drinks-may-cause-8000-diabetes-cases

The end of finger prick testing?

An engineering breakthrough could mean that diabetics will no longer need to draw blood to monitor their condition. http://news.sky.com/story/1519057/new-diabetes-test-could-offer-real-freedom

There are very small fridges you can buy that plug into a car's 12v power supply. Newer cars also have one in the boot.

    Foot Care

Let us know how you get on Rog - I've had foot pain/burning/tingling for 12 months plus despite very tight blood sugar control. I can't get any answers anywhere so far.

    Would you like it lower?

How do you manage your diabetes WITHOUT following lchf?

I went seriously lchf to start off with and got non diabetic hba1c's very quickly - since then I've got quite relaxed (but not complacent). I find it really valuable to know how to extreme low carb tbh. The reason why is today for example I knew I was going to a restaurant for a 2 or 3 course...
