Prediabetic-Carnt get rid of the thirst

Unfortunately, yes. It wasn't too bad for me as I am quite happy logging things on a spreadsheet. But really, especially if you are having problems like this, making accurate logs can be very helpful. It's horribly time consuming at first, having to check all the foods, weigh them etc, but it...

    3.9! That is good - I think.

Great news, well done! This is very encouraging for me also. My fasting bg has been in damage territory for all too long recently. I was also equally pleased and scared when I got my first (and so far only) 3.9 after fasting all day some time ago. I thought about eating something just to make...

CAN I PLEASE ASK HOW EXERCISE EFFECTS PEOPLE'S BS

Yes I love snow and ice but it's a real pain when you just want to do a brisk walk in the evenings! It's getting pretty hard to use my local walk, due to the mud, thanks to the regular rain. There's some quite big stretches now where if I tried to keep up the pace I'd be flat on my backside...

Prediabetic-Carnt get rid of the thirst

I had a heck of a time with urination and drinking in the night when I changed my diet a while ago. I know what you mean about being exhausted with lack of sleep. I never did work out why, but it seems to have gone away now. It was confusing at first, because I was used to the problem of...

CAN I PLEASE ASK HOW EXERCISE EFFECTS PEOPLE'S BS

I think there's long-term and short-term effects of exercise on blood sugar. Building a bit of muscle seems to be a sensible idea for the long-term effect of increasing your metabolism, and it gives you more material in your body to use up glucose even when you aren't exercising. I've been...

Fasting - Tips and Advice Please

I've got very limited experience of fasting. I may have been lucky but the first time I tried it I ate in the morning then had nothing till the next morning, and didn't find it as hard as I expected. There were definite waves of hunger and light-headedness but they came and went. Lots of water...

    Diabetes snobbery

In a thread which has already compared T2 with T1, I don't want to add another uselessly divisive subject into the mix, but I have to say that fat-shaming bothers me a hell of a lot more when it's done to women. It's bang out of order when it's done to anyone, but I've always been able to cope...

    Type 2 Zero Carb Diet

Wow, that's a new one! Most T2s on this forum tell of their doctors not supporting low carb, let alone suggesting zero carb! Some on here have had success with a meat-and-water diet. Not sure if that would suit you? No real recipes required, just meat and a pan I would think.

    Dear judgemental person

Thanks for the hug @Mel dCP :) I think most of my unhappy face was for the alcohol bit! Mars bars I could always take or leave, but I always packed them in my rucksack while hiking. I feel strangely naked while in the hills without a Mars bar in my rucksack. I suppose I should continue to pack...

    Dear judgemental person

In the context of this thread, I should probably have been careful to use the past-tense: "I'm sure there will have been plenty of times..." Unfortunately I can't do alcohol and mars bars any more :(

Great, thank you. Care to share your tweaks?

    Dear judgemental person

Nice one. I have to admit I imagine I could walk past a T1 having an "episode" and have no idea what I'm looking at and why it was happening, so it's nice to be aware of things like that. I'm sure there have been plenty of times I'll have been drunkenly sweating outside a shop with a Mars bar...

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

It's been a while since I've bought chia seeds, but Aldi definitely used to do them, so it may be possible to get the price down even more. Thanks for you efforts & research!

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

Thanks a lot for trying this and the report! I look forward to your further experiments and honing. I wouldn't worry too much about the cost - even if it means people only make it every now and then, it would still be great to know the option is there from time to time! I have a bread maker...

    Carbs, calories and fasting bg

I forgot to give the context: I'm really asking the questions of people with T2 who need to manage blood glucose and are doing so, partly at least, by diet. People who find that if they don't take special action, their fasting levels get too high, but if they do take action and monitor their...

    Carbs, calories and fasting bg

I guess there are a lot of people here with food logs and fasting blood sugar logs! I've got two questions, sort of opposites, if anyone would be kind enough to share their experiences: 1) Has anyone ever had a period of a few days when they know they have consistently been eating...

    Strange readings on meter

If your meter is new it should be accurate to 15%, so for example: If the true value is 6, your meter could read between 5.1 and 6.9. That's very close to the range you got, but your readings fell just outside this range. If your meter is older it should be accurate to 20%, so for example: If...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Mixed nuts and 3 raisins with a tiny bit of milk for breakfast. Cheese, red pepper, spinach and 5 baby plum tomatoes for lunch. Belly pork and broccoli for dinner. I've been aiming more for keto than LCHF for a while, pretty sure today qualifies but I've never tested my blood. I don't...

    Diabetes snobbery

I just wanted to quote that because I thought it was really nice. I think I'm going to stop posting in this thread, because it's all getting a bit blurred. My posts defending people with T2 against judgmentalism have absolutely nothing to do with comparing T1 and T2. They have nothing to do...
