Finger prick BG testing obsession, help please!

@Antje77 thanks. No, i absolutely checked with the withdraw and secondly, I do long fasts and check my BGs at 12 hours too. There is no way on earth i can touch 9 during the fasting, i have no insulin resistance, and my liver doesn't dump sugar. The maximum i go between 8hrs to 12 hour fasting...

Low white blood cell (WBC) count on low-carb diet

@Andydragon Hi thanks for your post. I was seeing your bio and saw you had quite a bit of weight loss, congratulations on that. My question is when you lost the weight, had you had your lipids checked and how was your LDL?

Low white blood cell (WBC) count on low-carb diet

@Rachox interesting, almost similar to mine. Doesn't this clearly indicate that when we were at the peak of our metabolism catastrophe, our WBC were the highest? and after improving it, they went low, seems like a normal course?

Finger prick BG testing obsession, help please!

@bandito22 exactly, well said. As a matter of fact after 3 months while i was in Egypt i did a HOMA-IR test and my insulin returned back at 3 (fasting) so i am okay on that side. Now i check my sugar just to make sure its not causing insulin to spike as i cant test insulin at home.

Finger prick BG testing obsession, help please!

Thanks @Ronancastled . I agree what you had to say, but my 2 hour mark is not based on recommendations, but its based on my peak because i eat low carb protein rich food with lots of veggies so over the past few months, i figured my peak is somewhere betwee 130 to 3 hours depending upon the GI...

Finger prick BG testing obsession, help please!

:) thing is the my guesstimated BG is almost equal to what meter shows, so that is the issue. I understand very well how much a food is going to cause a spike but its just a fear that it might go to 12 or 13, which btw never happened. Its obsession! Also a strange thing that my blood test in NHS...

Finger prick BG testing obsession, help please!

Has anyone else got this obsession as well? I have been diagnosed in last Dec and have managed my BG very well thanks to the meter. Last 2 a1c tests within normal range too. My fasting are close to 5 and postprandial peaks are average 7 and i am not doing much experiments with foods either. In...

Just out of curiosity, how many carbs you eat in a day? This might have to do with number of carbs. I have been on below 30 a day.

    High serum potassium on low-carb

So my Potassium level came back at the high end of borderline 5.5 and they say Potassium maintains a very tight range and any excess is harmful to your heart, above 6 is emergency. It was 4.5 when i was diagnosed with D2 in last Dec. I have been eating a LOT of green leafy veggies, broccoli...

Type 2 Cholesterol / Lipid profile after low-carb

@AndBreathe your HDL are impressive, mine was .88 and improved to 1.2 in 6 months, not sure if that's a decent improvement or not. However, can you through light on your food/exercise habits or anything that could actually make difference to HDL, i need it above 2 at any cost :) or is it just...

Type 2 Cholesterol / Lipid profile after low-carb

@Jo123 "by changing my fat source" this is something i am working on now. I had a lot of full fat cream, clotted cream and almond flour cakes and things of that sort including butter, sour cream etc. Is that what you are referring to by changing fat sources? which one's helped you most?

Type 2 Cholesterol / Lipid profile after low-carb

I have couple of interested findings and thought i will share this with you guys and see if you have any comments on em? First, I read that if you have APOE4 allele that can hamper your lipid metabolism and they say 10-15% of the population have this gene and if they go on VLCD diet, their LDL...

Type 2 Cholesterol / Lipid profile after low-carb

I have done listening to several of Sikaris vids and he also says the LDL to HDL ratio is important that's my worrying point. I still seem to have a high ratio.

Type 2 Cholesterol / Lipid profile after low-carb

Thank you @AndBreathe . However, i see you have excellent TGs and well above 2 HDL. My TGs and HDL are still borderlines. I have started low carb on Jan 1st this year and was 72 KGs. I went to 55 KGs in April and since then my weight is stable. So shouldn't i be over with my transient...
