Low carb & insulin sensitivity / carb tolerance

I consider myself perfectly fine with the food i eat, i enjoy it and it keeps my bgs in check with an a1c of low 30's. I really not fanaticising eating grains or sugars or fructose even if it doesn't spike me. I am more interested in reducing inflammation affect of low-carb diet, which is now...

Low carb & insulin sensitivity / carb tolerance

Thank you for sharing, very interesting. I guess its personal and how much damage you already done to your beta cells, your genetic makeup, ethnicity, and type of fat you store (visceral vs subcutaneous) or the size of fat cells vs number of fat cells. I see you caught the disease at fairly...

Low carb & insulin sensitivity / carb tolerance

I am doing my CGM experiments this week so had this Sparkle chocolate cake from Costa today with some milk coffee so overall about 65 grams of carbs load. Never had sugar since months. My a1c is early 30s since 9 months and I try to remain below 6.7 in my peaks. This is just to give you a...

Low carb & insulin sensitivity / carb tolerance

This is a very recent and interesting study on how low-carb affects your insulin secretion, sensitivity and affects your carbohydrate tolerance. Thought would be helpful to understand for those who are on low-carb. Also points out how a high-carb or OGTT test will affect in even non-diabetics...

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

Also someone asked me to check high protein meal. So in the above graph, the SAT dinner 6-9 peak is high protein meal (mixed grill) with salad. I believe not less than 100 gm of protein (about 400-500 gm of actual meat/chicken). However, i did eat about 12 fries with it as well :)

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

So today in the morning i ate Quaker oats pack with milk and some nuts 10 am. Carbs about 40 gms. The graph is below, peak is quicker and fall is quick too than yesterday. Because yesterday bread and lentil had fats with it (butter etc). The little peak you see in the end is 40 minutes strength...

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

Thank you for useful input. Much appreciated. I am on low-carb normally and do not eat more than 30-50 carbs a day and those again from vegetables, yogurt etc and not from grains or sugars. I normally don't cross 6.7 that is my target. However, i read that if you are extremely low carb you would...

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

So I had a some bread and lentils, i mean carbs :) just to see how my BGs react. So it was about 30 gms of carbs at 10 am this morning. Please see the graph below. Regardless of my sensitivity to carbs and the fact that Libre2 is still showing a bit higher readings as compared to my finger...

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

Great story. Can you please share your stats on CGM, any interesting findings? Particularly can you and anyone else on this forum who used CGM, i am interested to know the precise timing of Dawn phenomenon or the morning liver dump/sugar rise before the body gets ready for the day and before...

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

Good point, I shall definitely try high protein meals and see few hours later BG. My sensor is still optimising i guess as they say it takes 24 hrs. Its at least 1 mmol more than my finger readings so far.

    Freestyle Libre2 CGM Sensor Trial

Hi everyone. I got this Freestyle Libre trial for 14 days. Since the diagnosis of my diabetes in Dec 2020, when my a1c was 78 mmol/L (9.3%), I have been experimenting with low-carb, high-intensity training, running, fasting and time restricted eating. My a1c is completely normal range since...

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

Great. I have already applied for a free trial and will see how it goes when i start using it. Need to do lot of experiments :) Based on the CGM data you shared, your a1c should have been much lower than the one you mentioned? Or i have not interpreted the graph well. You said you are mainly in...

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

I have just enrolled myself in a degree level diploma for nutrition therapy so i am interested to see how people react to diets. So what is your average BG and a1c now based on CGM (when you used to wear it) or recent labs? I understand from Dr. Bernstein that BG affect on all mortality is again...

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

These are insane readings, probably not even non-diabetics will have these. Great stuff. Did you catch diabetes earlier and still producing good amount of insulin or its the diet? I was looking at your instagram and i see you still eat rice and carbs off and on. Amazing readings.

    Blood Glucose 4-5 hours postprandial

That is why i am not worrying 2 hours reading here. I need to know what reading people see on this forum normally at 4 hours or 5 hours testing (if you do so). Whether peak is in one hour eating simple carbs or 2 hours with a heavy fat/protein meal, 4-5 hour mark seems sensible to understand how...
