    ‘Stop Eating After 7pm’ Challenge

Sorry not to join you for the moment but I've been finding I can't sleep unless I have a little snack beforehand. Might be meds related - I'll try again once they're finished.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Unfortunately I appear to be a very difficult bleeder. The only things that have worked for me so far are keeping super hydrated and keeping my hand below my knees, and even then it only works 2/3 of the time. The need for hydration is another reason I can't test until I've drunk my tea ;)

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I can't do a reading until I've been to the loo and then sat in a chair for at least 10 mins (my fingers do not like giving up blood so I need to persuade them using gravity). I am resigned to never getting a true "first thing" reading. 11.0 for me after two loo trips and a mug of...

    Limiting carb intake v "5 a day"

I'm trying to test 4 times a day (first thing, before and after 1 meal and before bed) but still only getting a good blood drop about 2/3 of the time, so don't have a complete record. Gliclazide seems to be masking any effects from food as 2 hours after a meal I'm generally 2mmol/l *below* the...

    Limiting carb intake v "5 a day"

Trouble is I'm not eating those anyway (maybe once a week) so no wiggle room there. My carbs are coming mostly from dairy or veg that wouldn't be my first choice, such as carrots, pulses and leeks. As I'm not able to prepare my own food, I rely on other people's choices. I think what I want to...

    Limiting carb intake v "5 a day"

I'm trying to strike a balance between limiting my carb intake while still eating at least 5 portions of veg per day. As I'm also generally only eating one full sized meal plus one or two snacks, this is proving to be a real headache! I've noticed that nowhere in any of the low carb resources...

A friend of mine introduced me to his "3 veg soup". Choose any 3 veg plus onions, chop, add stock, simmer, blend. Hubby likes to make "orange soup" variety with butternut squash, carrot and sweet potato. If not serving to vegetarians it's delicious with a bit of crispy bacon crumbled in...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I keep not being able to finish meals because of the heat which means there are bowls of leftovers mounting up! After a not so low carb day yesterday (really fancied salt and vinegar crisps, maybe for the electrolytes, but still came in at 100g carbs for the day as hadn't eaten much else apart...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you I did take it previously without symptoms but that was 20 years ago so can't guarantee the same now, especially as I'm also taking Gliclazide now.

    Change of Meds, increase BS.

Following with interest as I am at the start of a similar journey. My aim is to manage BS through diet if possible, and if my body won't play along, take Metformin only. This fits in with the current orders from my GP surgery (they really don't do discussion or mutual agreement), well they...
