That's good to know. Does the getting up, walking and hand soaking affect your numbers much? I was told to test "first thing" which I took to mean before getting out of bed.
10.5 after visit to loo
Don't think I'm ever going to be able to test in bed as my fingers need hefty assistance from gravity to bleed. Has anyone managed to fingerprick lying down? Will ask diabetes nurse eventually but she has probably never even thought of it.
Yes
I would certainly have given them a loud, sarcastic piece of my mind under such provocation!
10.5 this not-quite-morning.
Lower than yesterday despite carby last meal of beans so content with that. Starting Metformin today so fingers crossed no gut issues, got a supermarket delivery...
Meat salad (meatballs, sauerkraut, gherkins, capers, mustard, mayo)
Garlic butter prawns, spinach mornay, curried chicken soup
Again, meds dictate eating an extra snack meal so about to have
Mexican bean salad, blueberry and raspberry yogurt
I first started low carbing in 2016 so some of it has rubbed off on the rest of the family - meals do not automatically contain a starchy carb any more. In fact now my daughter's gone back to uni, my husband is more amenable to preparing low carb meals, as long as he can make himself a sandwich...
I welcome my numbers dropping low enough lol. Lowest reading so far is 8.8. I have a bottle of coke and bag of sweets ready but no excuse to eat them yet! Starting metformin tomorrow so may yet get down there.
Hubby is very keen on making resistant starch at the moment, mostly so he can still cook the rice and pasta dishes we like. I'd rather he did the carbs separately so I could just have sauce but he prefers things like risotto where it's all mixed together.
Not eaten yet, I don't like eating in...

Probably not helped by having to talk DD through a panic attack at 2am.
My school had 6 houses named after saints, including Winefride. I never knew anything about her, just thought it was an unusual spelling of Winifred.
Not by name, I did some Googling (also found this forum;))
I get that, what annoys me is that they demanded I put everything aside in order to arrange a urine test as it was an emergency, then didn't bother forwarding the result to the diabetic nurse (it's a large practice with 6 or 7...
Thank you. I did accidentally re-use the first lancet, until I read that I shouldn't! My first attempt at stabbing this morning was unsuccessful so I'm going through them rather quickly. I'll try using them at least twice from now on. Pain is the least of my problems at the moment.
Thanks...
Breakfast: Yesterday's leftover frittata
Dinner: Roast pork, roasted mushrooms, peppers, onion, carrot
Snack: Salt & chilli chicken, yogurt (wouldn't normally eat 3 times but chicken needs using, I've been planning to eat it for 3 days now!)
Life is currently full of stress, has been for decades but particularly bad the last 6 months. Unfortunately I'm mostly bedbound so can't physically work off the stress any more, and can't escape when it's other members of the household stressing me out. Playing computer games or reading when...

Phone call from surgery saying "your blood sugar is very high" (wouldn't give me numbers), "can you come in to the surgery today" (no), "it's really urgent", "you must send us a urine sample immediately", "you might have to go to hospital right away". Didn’t stop them closing up...
