suitable snack for on the move or at home

I've cut sugar and carbs pretty well, but do allow myself a very occasional treat and with it being VERY occasional it tastes all that much better. I've managed to get myself into the mindset that either I control my diabetes or it controls me, and I 'd rather hang onto my vision and feet...

    Type 2 Low carb spaghetti/noodles

Looks interesting as a change from courgetti. However there seem to be some cautions regarding the effect on cholesterol and glucose levels for some people on medications, but I guess the only way to know is eat and then test. :) https://www.livestrong.com/article/24729-side-effects-glucomannan/

    Possible diabetic?

Your gluclose readings are extremely high and those and some of your symptoms are associated with diabetes, but the only way to get a reliable diagnosis is to see a qualified medic.

    Eat vegetables

Since I was diagnosed two years ago my enjoyment of salad veg has grown month by month, largely due to the creativity of my wife who produces gorgeously tasty salads. I've now reached the stage where I often enjoy the salad more than the meat/fowl/fish. Had a tuna steak for dinner tonight...

    Lentils

Cooked lentils come in at about 17g/100g which isn't all that low. However the only way to know how they affect you is by testing.

    Useless doctors letters

NHS Scotland has just updated its already excellent My Diabetes My Way website. It is absolutely brilliant now, very easy to navigate and access test results and there is now a good introductory video showing how to use the site.

Type 2 Over the counter meds

Have a word with your pharmacy. They'll advise you. When I asked for ibuprophen I was told to use paracetamol.

Dr told me that I should be only testing once a day because I’m T2

I ought to add to my post above, that when my GP stopped my Gliclazide I asked if that meant that I'd no longer qualify for test strips as according to NHS/NICE one only gets them if taking a sulphonlyurea. Her reply was "We'll decide what's best for you.". She's a wee treasure!!

Dr told me that I should be only testing once a day because I’m T2

I'm very fortunate in that I get test strips free on the NHS and because I've learned what foods affect my BG and what to avoid I now only test every second day and rotate those tests through one meal per test day and through breakfast, lunch, dinner and pre-bedtime. I do a pre-meal and 2 hours...

    LCHF youtube video

Thanks! A great, simplified explanation of LCHF.

    WHY is everyone getting Diabetes

NO! I don't consider ready meals as 'real food'. My reply was probably a bit too obtuse. 'Real food' per se, in that there is a lack of it being consumed is part of the equation. As is the meat/fish/fowl in the food chain that has been fed growth enchancing chemicals. I am well aware of the data...

    WHY is everyone getting Diabetes

Could 'not real foods' have something to do with it? The ready-meals, the meats/fish/fowl we consume that have been fed growth enhancing chemicals. The high carb/sugar sweets and deserts that are cheap and promoted and are addictive.

    Testing Problems

Doctors can only advise. They can't compel you.

What does alcohol do to you?

Gosh you do do pretty well for consumption, I'd be on the floor! Generally alcohol isn't too bad when it comes to carbs. Beer comes in at about 2.2g/100g, I've no data for lager, and red wine is pretty low. The one to avoid is sweet white wine as it can be up to 5.9g/100g. Spirits have next to...

    BMJ agrees LCHF "replete"

Many thanks @SueJB ! It's a very interesting article. The final conclusion should help promote LCHF here in the UK. We have demonstrated that a well-formulated LCHF diet can provide sufficient intakes of all of the micronutrients profiled in the FoodWorks database, apart from iron for females...

    Low carb on holiday

It's a HOLIDAY, so don't worry too much; three weeks semi-relaxation from low carbing won't create lasting problems so long as you keep your head screwed on and don't do daft!

    Type 2 Sugar level at 288/ 16mmol

That's a bit vague. Do you have a question or was your post just an introduction? Whatever, welcome to this rather exclusive club. :)

    Protein ice cream

At 14g per serving that's about 50% less than 'normal' ice cream and probably a wiser option. However personally it's approaching the limit for my own LC diet. I'll stick with our DIY no-carb creations :-)

    Protein ice cream

A couple of months ago we bought an ice cream maker (about £28) and now make our own low carb sugar-free ice cream. It's not difficult and experimenting with flavour is fun. Our first batch was Earl Grey tea flavour - delicious on its own and even nicer drizzled with hot 85% cocoa chocolate...
