    Dislike all food now

Hi, I’m not vegetarian although I do enjoy vegetarian foods. Eggs, cheese, olives, nuts are some of my staple low carb food. I wondered if this thread might give you some ideas. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/vegetarians-what-have-you-eaten-today.88074/

    Diabetic Backpack

I just use a regular rucksack. One big enough for pills, needles, testing stuff, spare libres, and a frio wallet with my insulin in. Apart from all that my carry on just has a mini iPad, paperwork, purse, passport, fruit pastilles and biscuits in case of a hypo. How much stuff do you need to...

    Looking for some advice

Hi, I am shocked that you seem to have fallen between the consultant and your GP here. I am a type 2 on insulin and I had one consultation at the hospital clinic and was then referred back to my GP practice for management (actually pretty much left to my own devices to find out what dose worked...

Type 1 Hello, I have a very serious issue. I hope you can help me.

Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify I am not a doctor, just another person living with diabetes. This situation must be very worrying for you. It is hard watching a child having to get used to all that goes along with diabetes. Also she is at a difficult age where hormones start to...

Type 1 Hello, I have a very serious issue. I hope you can help me.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m sorry for asking so many questions but could you give us more idea what your usual routine is to help us understand. You mention long and short acting insulin. When do you take each? Do you usually take your short acting insulin before your morning meals...

High blood but not eating, how?

Hi Maurice, can you give us an idea what insulin regime you are on? What is your typical Blood sugar when you get up before you eat your yogurt?

    Hello one and all

These are the side effects listed on the NHS website. https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/insulin/long-acting-insulin/side-effects-of-long-acting-insulin/ Have you started the insulin now? Are you getting dizziness?

    Oblivious to carb counting

Even worse when I first started restricting carbs 10 years ago I was given a sound telling off by ny diabetic nurse and told I must eat “healthy” carbs at each meal and three meals a day. No wonder my HBa1C continued to rise.

    Hello one and all

The only advice I was given was to inject at the time of day you are most likely to remember! I choose to inject at 6 in the evening and have a watch alarm set to remind me. That seems to help best with my evening meal and morning levels. I use lantus which is a biosimilar insulin. I do find by...

    Hello one and all

Hi, and welcome You have posted in the right place for a new introduction. I’ve been type 2 diabetic since 2011 and finally had to go on to insulin last october I have to say I found it easier than I expected. I soon got used to the injections, and how to manage any hypos. Plenty of people...

Pag .causing bowel movement change ?

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. These tabs cause you to wee more, so if you don’t drink enough you can get dehydrated which in turn can cause constipation.

    Dextro Energy Tablets

Hi, both banana and toast are food which are more likely to increase blood sugar rather than cause a hypo, but the best way to be sure is to test at the time. It is very unlikely for a type 2 on Metformin only to have a hypo which needs treating. But other medications given to type 2 diabetics...

    iPhone?

It looks like even Abbott give conflicting information. This is the list on the uk site for compatible devices and operating systems. https://freestyleserver.com/Payloads/IFU/2025/q3/ART39109-001_rev-BD-pub.pdf It’s definitely worth a try to see if you can hotspot from the iPad through your...

    iPhone?

It’s not a stupid question at all, and the answer is that the libre software should work on an iPhone. However there have been multiple reports on here of it loosing the connection with the latest version of the Apple software (iOS). I can’t comment on that as I used third party software on my...

    1 year post victrectomy

Welcome back. There’s always someone to listen here. I don’t think any of us can truly understand how scary this is for you unless we’ve been there. It must be even harder having been through it once and come through. I hope you have the same good result this time, and that just knowing there...

    Pre-diabetes and Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Just to add if you look online abbot who make the libre usually have an offer for an initial free trial sensor.

    Hit a real low.

No, you didn’t fail. You guessed the dose yes, but you took the insulin. And you have done what anyone else would do and taken a correction dose. Sometimes that’s just what happens…..to everyone.

    Hit a real low.

I think the fact that you took insulin to cover it is another win. Keep at it, keep posting, you are doing so much better than a few days ago.

Hi, I see you posted about this recently. Where any of the replies helpful? If you avoid fizzy drinks are you ok? Mod edit: Threads have been merged due to duplicate query elsewhere.
