    Appointment tomorrow

Thank you. So, similar to an eye screening appointment? Did you have to have any other treatment?

    Appointment tomorrow

Hi, I have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow with the ophthalmologist. Diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy picked up as part of my eye screening. It was picked up in May and it has taken till now to get an appointment, so I am worried that things may have deteriorated more since May...

    Type 2 Insulin shortages?

I’m just going off what I was told by my pharmacist, who also happens to work in one of the big Liverpool hospitals. I’m unable to get my repeat prescription for Tresiba and have been advised to ask my DNS to prescribe an alternative.

    Type 2 Insulin shortages?

There’s a nationwide shortage of Tresiba too, even the hospital pharmacies can’t get it.

    Type 2 Insulin user

Hi, you do have to advise the DVLA and you get a license that has to be renewed every 3 years. As long as you are well controlled, you will be allowed to keep driving. I haven’t had any issues with car insurance either, which was something I was worried about. I’ve been on insulin as a T2 for...

SGLT2 inhibitors: updated advice on the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis

I was one of the yellow card warnings too. In fact I think your story in here saved my life. I was admitted through A&E with severe DKA within only a few days of being on Forxiga. Because my BG levels were low they didn’t know what was wrong until I showed them your warning in this forum. I was...

    Starting insulin and terrified

First of all, please don't be terrified. I have been on a similar journey to you and it's actually much easier to control your diabetes with insulin than it is with tablets and other medication. Part of your depression and bingeing will be because your sugars are high and unstable, that means...

SGLT2 inhibitors: updated advice on the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis

Not crying wolf at all! It was your post with the drug safety update that finally convinced the doctor in A&E, so thank you for that. In fact I can't thank you enough!!! A lot of people use these medications very well and safely, but forewarned is forearmed. @Michele01 gave some great advice...

SGLT2 inhibitors: updated advice on the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis

Thank you for posting this as a sticky, I wouldn't like anyone else to go through what I and others have. I believe there have been 120+ cases in the UK, including at least 2 fatalities. I can see that the online patient information leaflet has been changed to include warnings, but the PIL...

How did you feel about switching onto injections?

It's worth asking. I've been using different kinds of tablets and diet/exercise for over 20 years, it's only using insulin that has given me any real control. We are all different, you need to find what works for you. Your sugars look high enough to need insulin, I would discuss with your doctor...
