What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

That’s not cheating that’s fasting! Frankly Ziggy you have so much to put up with that no one could ever accuse you of cheating- your posts help me keep my own challenges in perspective- hope you have a pain free day.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

So I've just managed 3 days in a row with all my daily tests averaging under 6 (pre and post meal). Today was a slight cheat though because I accidentally left my meter at home so missed a few tests. That said at dinner (veg stir fry, with baked salmon) I had half a bag of prawn crackers (no...

    Newly Diagnosed

There is so much to take in when you’re newly diagnosed- take it a few days at a times. Making a big change is good in the medium but there bumps in the road. I’m 3 months in, doing well, eating low carb and generally feeling better for it. Yesterday though I had real slump, felt rotten all...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Just found this thread for first time - nice to see a few familiar faces here and some people I don’t yet know. My weight loss has started to level off a bit which is fine. I’m 88.6kg this week which is only 0.3 kg down for the week. In May I was 101.5 so overall happy.

    Give Us Newbie's A Break.

Thanks - understood. Just wanted to offer a way out as she seemed uncomfortable with how the discussion had developed.

    Give Us Newbie's A Break.

I think @DCUKMod could help here maybe and close the thread? @Moggely started the debate (quite a good one I think) but wants to calmly withdraw from the argument so maybe closing the thread to replies will take the heat out of it and let everyone move on. Please stick around though moggely -...

    Weight Loss No More

Some of your initial weight loss may have been loss of fluid retention- if you’ve since been unwell and looking after yourself you’ll have kept yourself hydrated and you should continue to. The BG shows the diet is working- be patient re weight.

Any Experts Available To Answer My Question Please?

I completely get why people go in search of superfoods and supplements- we are hard wired to search for such panaceas. I went looking as well and for 2 weeks mixed ground cinnamon in my coffee- I stopped when I decided that it wasn’t a taste combo I was going to acquire. I still have some in my...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

For the first time since 14 July I have three days in a row under 6. 5.8 today. In fact I’ve averaged under 5 all day for last 2 days so maybe a lower run is settling in after a bouncy couple of weeks. Who knows.

Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Seeking Daisy

Welcome aboard Sprocket- you have made me think of Fraggle Rock for the first time in years. You sound like you are in good spirits considering, which is great. A clear plan comes from a clear head. I found a few days just exploring these threads and some clear consistent themes came out...

Any Experts Available To Answer My Question Please?

I’m not an expert on the properties of the items you listed. (I haven’t heard of most of them). However, given your concerns it may be worth a trip to the GP, and ask for a blood test- it isn’t just a test for diabetes, but tests the function of all your major organs.

    How Do You Deal?

Thank them. They mean well and care about you. Then tell them that there is a wonderful community of diabetics successfully managing their condition so you’ve reached out to them to get advice on what really works in practice- tell them that advice is coming from real recent experience. Tell...

    Fasting Blood Sugar

Hi - no one on here can advise you to take more or less meds as that should only come from a doctor. In terms of FBG your diet will be influencing this as well. What sort of diet do you follow? Is it helping you to reduce blood sugars over the medium term? Whether or not you eat breakfast will...

    Newly Diagnosed

I think the diet looks ok. You’ve shown one day, of course, but just based on that personally i would think about where you can add a little bit more fibre. I see you are having salad which is great but if you can some fibre to another meal as well it will improve it. Nuts, avocado, green veg...

Got Fed Up And Fell Off The Wagon

Did you enjoy it? If you did then it has probably done you a bit of good as well. It certainly won't do any lasting damage. As others have said just get back on the wagon again, but focus on making it sustainable – which means make it less punishing. When people argue about diets and which is...
