    Bg Down, Metformin Up?

The disparity in your FBG and initial Hba1c may mean that you just managing the condition very well. When diagnosed I was Hba1c of 66 and FBG of 9.7 - all very consistent. However, as soon as I started eating a healthier diet the FBG began to tumble and has settled in the 5.5-6.5 range pretty...

    Low Carb Diets

I’m generally not a conspiracy theorist.....but There are some extremely powerful and very well funded (enough to support massive sponsorship deals to major global sporting events) vested interests in this country and abroad who do not wish to see reductions in carbohydrate consumption by the...

    Blood Sugars Creeping Up

Your blood sugars are higher than you’d like but they are ok, and at levels that wouldn’t have resulted in alarm pre diagnosis. The meds were probably giving you some latitude but if you take that away the margins for error are reduced. You are doing well - keep playing the long term game.

    So Here's A Loaded Question!

Sorry to hear that (I think - although it sounds like you’re ok with situation so good for you) Still have the cake though.

    So Here's A Loaded Question!

If you can tolerate a little alcohol then a glass of wine with the cake may help balance out the effect and make it an extra treat. Alcohol can lower BGL. Obviously something to be careful with and don’t overdo it on the wine (or the cake) but I reckon you probably deserve both.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I got home 10pm last night after only 4g of carbs all day (which wasn’t the plan but not a bad outcome), and my BG was 4.9 which is pretty low for me and I was hungry. A had a couple of crackers and cheese and small nightcap, flipped open the laptop to catch up on some interesting threads on...

Do You Class Yourself As A) Reversed B) In Remission C) Controlled D) Other And Why

Another thread I’ve just caught up on because Alexandra sent it back up the charts with her comment. Crikey Debra you’ve been busy haven’t you! To answer your question I will say controlled for me. I was Hba1C 66, then retested 5 weeks later and was 44. Being tested next week (I came up with...

    Hello Everybody

Hi Kate - like Guzzler I'm a type 2 and don't have much to offer in advice. I remember posting for the first time and wondering if anyone will reply...It's late and I expect some experienced T1's will be on in the morning with some observations. This is a great site with a friendly supportive...

Spreading The Lchf Word Together, Maybe The Way Forward?

No! Get some sleep. Go again in the morning. I did DESMOND on Thursday- you can read my thoughts on the FBG Chat thread you sometimes go on when you’re not so busy. No biscuits, no soapbox - just dismay and inner rage.

Spreading The Lchf Word Together, Maybe The Way Forward?

Superstar! I’ve only just found this particular thread and read your newspaper article. Really well done and once again I’m sorry I can’t be there on 1 Sep. Attending Desmond this week has put more steel into my own determination to get the LCHF message out there. I am hoping that by my 3...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

President Carter was once “attacked” in his rowing boat by a swimming rabbit. It’s true. It’s not especially relevant to this discussion but it is true.

...and probably not the best visual metaphor in the context of this subject matter.

I think it means only give people tools that they can and will use.

Wise man he say: “the dog can swim faster than the rabbit, but the rabbit cannot row the boat, only swim and hope for the best.”

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

@Bubbsie @DJC3 @Goonergal and others amused / interested in the DESMOND experience I just wanted to add a note of balance. As well as demonstrating what we already know about the course, that it takes a polar opposite view of dietary control to most of us, I did get a sense in the room of what...
