    Sickness & Side effects Metaformin

I personally haven’t met anyone who could tolerate plain metformin, slow release ones do also take some getting used to but are much easier on the stomach. There is lots of great advice on this forum, as you have type 2 I hope you are able to reverse it. Do post again with any questions. Best wishes

    Anxiety and T2 diabetes

Hi Maggie Firstly the HbA1c covers the last 3 months not just the last few weeks so it might not be as bad as you think, and if it’s a bit higher than you hoped for at least you know where you are at, and can improve for next time. I think you should have the blood test and it might start a...

No my blood sugars went high for a few days, I have only read a couple of people going low, far more seem to have high. I bought a continuous blood glucose monitor £40 from Hobbs pharmacy or get a free trial if you haven’t had one before especially if you are concerned, then turn the alarms on...

preserving beta cell mass with vitamin d and dpp4

Yes the endocrinologist I saw advised me to take vitamin D, especially as mine was repeatedly low for no apparent reason. This seems to be common with autoimmune diseases, this is also talked about on thyroid and lupus support forums. I have had 2 endos tell me most people they meet with...

    Help required please........

Hi This is appallingly, if you are well enough to write a complaint I would do. In the meantime as someone who had 6 UTI’s in 2020 this is what finally worked for me, if the doctor keeps giving you Nitrofurantoin antibiotic please refuse as they clearly don’t work for you and didn’t for me...

    Higher results than expected.

A1c is great for type 1 LADA. Well done, Libre is often 1mmol below actual. Don’t worry that’s a great result. I had the same problem with cholesterol slowly edging up despite healthy eating. My diabetic nurse says just worry about triglycerides, I know my doctor disagrees with her though...

I had exactly the same problem when on Novorapid. Two things helped, longer needles and switching to Fiasp. Hope your appointment is helpful. Enjoy that mash potato!

    Type 2 Insulin and potatoes

Hi I have been told Novorapid takes 30mins to kick in and an hour and a half to peak, are you wearing a cgm to see when exactly or if you spike? I find the timing important. I am now on Fiasp as it’s quicker to work. Hope this helps you.

Newly diagnosed with very high numbers - confused by symptoms

Hi Sorry to hear you are having these problems, many of us have a rather rough ride at the beginning. I agree with Jo ask for the GAD antibody test to rule in or out late onset of type 1. I was put on metformin at the beginning and struggled for months with upset stomach, so much so that my...

Type 1 Blood sugar and swimming

I so agree with Ellie, I would take a small juice as well as BG monitor. I personally can swim for 20 minutes, any longer and I start to drop quite quickly or I have to stop for 5 mins and have some juice. I find the water temperature makes a difference for me, even when walking if it’s cold I...
