Hello everyone, My name is Mathew, I am 24 years old and was diagnosed as type 2 back in December. I am joining to hear others experiences and see if I can take what others have to offer and apply it to my lifestyle. Still very new to this and am just here to soak up any advice I can as well as sharing in my own experiences with everything.

Welcome Mathew, there is a lot of good advice on this forum. Have you changed your diet in the last few months? Hope you are doing well

Hello @Math_ew97 ,

Sheesh, what an age to get T2 at! (You are sure it's T2, right? Did they check for T1 due to your age?). Well... Hope we can be of some use to you. Couple of things: Your meter is your best friend, even if you have to self-fund the strips. It's the best tool to help you through this. Secondly, Carbs are basically the enemy. That's T2 in a nutshell. ;) https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/the-nutritional-thingy.2330/ might help some on this path.

Want to tell us how you're being treated right now? Because I can point you in a low carb way of eating direction, but that doesn't mesh well with some types of medication. If you're just on metformin, you should be fine. Insulin, gliclazide and the like could be problematic due to the potential hypo's. If you want to share more about your treatment and daily meals/drinks, so we can be a bit more specific when it comes to advice, feel free. The more we know, the better we can help.

Again, welcome. (And hey, you're going to be fine!)
Jo
