Why was husband offered course, but I was not?

Good question - why your husband should be offered a diabetes course is a mystery, but you haven't been offered one because you were diagnosed too long ago - now they are trying to offer all the newly diagnosed a course. I suggest he accepts the course & you go along with him - people offered...

    Should We Worry About Hba1c?

I think you will find that the factor was intense medication to get the HbA1c down. A low HbA1c achieved by diet and moderate medication is not a problem. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I didn't consider it as possibly valid. If the T2 problem is sat fat blocking of the cell "keyholes" (sic) then excess carbs will be the cause, NOT butter. I did report to PHC, but no comment. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I went on the XPERT course about 10 years after diagnosis, after I went low carb and restored my health. Two years later I went on a refresher course, and the organizer dietitian suggested I write to Xperthealth with my experience. Now they recommend LCHF. Last month I went on the 1-day Desmond...

Do herbs, supplements, diet, etc. help?

I have tried a range of alternatives without significant benefit, until I was becoming crippled with complications. Then with advice from contributors here I cut out carbohydrates, & increased veg & fatty foods. In THREE MONTHS my health was restored.

Britain’s Completely Batshit Week Since Brexit, Explained For Americans

We consulted our polecat - our son & bride brought her from Poland after their wedding. She looked at the door & said "Me-out!" but when we opened it, she just sat there.

    Diabetes and the elderly

I changed my diet suddenly when I learnt about the benefits of low carb. I was suffering a range of NHS/DUK diet induced complications which were soon reversed. Like you I don't have a financial constraint. Saturated fat is generally not expensive - full cream milk, cheese, mince, bacon, ham...

Just Been Sequestered Onto A Desmond Course

Thanks Kevin for a full report. Very helpful. I was invited to do the X-PERT course about 10 years after diagnosis when I reported my LCHF success. The dietitian wanted me there to encourage the newcomers! She allowed LC down to 130 g per day, & when I challenged the example of a high fat diet...

Sunday Times Page 4 Oooo & Look What's In Page 5!

"Balance" is the bimonthly magazine of "Diabetes UK." IMO it is useless for T2 as it promotes the party line of starchy carbs & low fat. My suggestion that they interview Dr Trudi Deakin (X-PERT course) got the brush-off:

Sunday Times Page 4 Oooo & Look What's In Page 5!

My Balance arrived today (last Wednesday) & of course I looked right through to see how the leading diabetes charity responded to the diabetes & weight issue that hit ALL the headlines two (3) weeks ago. I mean the reports issued by the Public Health Collaboration & the National Obesity Forum...

I'm getting a bit cross with Dr Trudi Deakin

I did the X-PERT course & a "refresher" after I had gained control. I wrote to her: I wasn't the only one to write - I know of others. The rest is history.

    Type 2 Neuropathy

I was diagnosed T2D in 2000 with a numbness in one leg that the Dr considered to be neuropathy, due to diabetes. HbA1c of 11 confirmed the diagnosis. I was then warned of all the diabetes complications, & told that diabetes was a progressive disease. However well I followed their advice, it...

    Guardian this morning

Thanks Robbity - that's what we - & the sceptics - should be reading - the voice of experience over the voice of the "experts."
