Eating 5-6 small meals/snacks instead of 2-3 large meals

    Yes, deciding for ourselves

Eating 5-6 small meals/snacks instead of 2-3 large meals

Well, you're right. Most diet studies are inherently flawed because it would be unethical to do double blind studies. So just about all of them are observational studies. That's why I said that if the keto diet worked for some people then that's great. I don't think we should be promoting it though

Eating 5-6 small meals/snacks instead of 2-3 large meals

It's not safe for me because of insulin. It's not safe for me because of potentially high fat and the effect that has on my pancreas. But, as said, this is is general thread and it might be safe for many (or even most) other people. The reason I say there is lack of evidence is because if you...

Eating 5-6 small meals/snacks instead of 2-3 large meals

I may as well say it. I do not believe in the keto diet. Even without high blood sugar you can develop DKA (google it). The keto diet works for you and that's great, but I think it's potentially dangerous and should not be done without medical supervision. Good on you for sticking with it...

Eating 5-6 small meals/snacks instead of 2-3 large meals

Ah I see. I don't think that'd be safe for me but this is a general thread so whatever works I guess. And I am happy it works for you. The general consensus, though, is that the ketogenic diet is a fad unless you have epilepsy. There are very few studies that support it. Are you on it for weight...

    Freestyle libre sensors falling off

I use a breathable adhesive patch over the top of my sensor. I probably don't need to because the sensors, on me, stick like crazy. But the sensors are too expensive for me to risk it falling off. I may have a slight allergic reaction to the adhesive but it's not enough to make me stop using the...

Under 20 g of carbs per day? Why?

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Nice levels. Just out of interest, do your levels go up after eating?

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Well done, mate. That's a really impressive result and it takes work

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.3 which is really good because I was below 2 during the night. I had orange juice and toast with honey on it and I stayed out of hospital! 6.3 is good. I'm shaking now but I don't know if that's a symptom. BSL is 5.8 so I think I'm ok

    Cheese is my downfall!

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today has been bad. Tablets for nausea from Dr not working Breakfast: Water Lunch: Water Dinner: salmon pasta (pasta spiral things with salmon, peas, white sauce and cheese on top). I was naughty and skipped my bolus doses again except for dinner. I'm not allowed to do this because I'm on fixed...

    Newly diagnosed

myfitnesspal is unreliable unless you enter all your foods manually because their database is full of incorrect information, which, granted, is not a huge chore because you only have to do it once. This is not "cross posting". I log my diet as well and it's what I see

Serious question, and I did google, but what is Bolly? Edit: champagne?

Depressed about medication and life generally

I think you need to ask your medical team about that but high fat is a trigger for pancreatitis for me. Makes it tricky for me because if I reduce carbs then either fat or protein goes up (the carbs have to be replaced by something, right?) Usually fat goes up for me which is not good for my...

Depressed about medication and life generally

I guess you just ask to see another Dr and ask for tests to be done. I'm not saying you do not have Type 2 and I'm not saying that you have 3c and nothing I say here is a diagnosis -- I'm not qualified to do that and it's against forum rules. I'm just having a general chat. Yes, I think...

    Safety shoes

I am required to wear safety boots when I'm working outside even though all I'm doing is identifying plants and occasionally collecting plant specimens as "vouchers". I'm pretty sure my workplace has the right to impose this requirement even though I think it's a bit silly. I do not wear the...

I think I was saying the same thing just not as assertive as you ;)

Depressed about medication and life generally

I'd still like @Jonwar1991 to get a second diagnosis (edit: if he's comfortable with that! If not, go with the flow. I'm not here to tell anybody what to do, it's just what I'd do). I'm not a doctor, I'm a botanist, but can't hurt right? Treatment for type 2 and type 3c (similar to type 1, just...

Depressed about medication and life generally

Wow, this is the best comment I've read in ages. This is a full time job. And it's hard sometimes (actually nearly all the time). Nicely worded
