    Who’s to blame ?

I'll get flamed for saying this on here but I'm going to say it anyway. The OP is T2 so without medical qualifications I'd probably say a keto diet is ok. But this is why I left this forum for many months: keto is a fad diet. I'm sticking to that. From what I've read people (with T2) can have...

    Who’s to blame ?

I'm sorry if I brought up bad memories, that was not my intention and if I did I sincerely apologise. My father died in 2019 and I'm still not over grieving. Edit: I won't ever be I don't even know what type of diabetes I have -- officially I am type 1 but some doctors call me type 3c (that's...

    BS spikes

I have to respectively disagree. A spike has nothing to do with type 1, type 2, type 3c, RH or any "type". It's an abrupt elevation in BSL that comes down just abruptly. Before CGMs spikes probably weren't even noticed in normal circumstances

    Who’s to blame ?

Here Check the time. 61st birthday? :D

    Who’s to blame ?

I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense. If I have novorapid without food it most definitely "works". It might not work like it's supposed to (I'll go hypo) but it does work

    Who’s to blame ?

Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best And Always look on the bright side of life Always look on the light side of life...

    Who’s to blame ?

I think that's a very interesting subject that you've brought up. The “your insulin will not work without food..” sounds completely absurd and illogical, but regarding "I read accounts from T2s suggesting to me they were probably given T1 “advice???” I'm not sure what to say. What do you mean by...

    BS spikes

I should mention that I don't consider total BSL as "spikes". As can be seen on my Sunday graph I was high all day. I don't consider any of that a spike because although not very good it was steady. It wasn't going straight up and down. But those two peaks on Monday I certainly call spikes...

    Who’s to blame ?

I guess that's the point. I'm not trying to make light of diabetes, it's a serious disease and we have to manage it as best as we can. But I don't think we have to beat ourselves up for having a treat every now and then. You're allowed out of detention

    BS spikes

As I understand it a spike is when you eat something your BSL goes sky high and then goes down just as quickly. The two red lines in these graphs are spikes (hospital infusion of glucose with a lot of insulin on board; they go up and straight back down). This is an artificial, kind of, situation...

    Who’s to blame ?

Are you talking about chicken eggs or easter eggs? I could easily eat a dozen easter eggs a day if I didn't control myself

    Who’s to blame ?

I think eggs are fine. That myth is well and truly debunked. Just don't tell your DN that you have FOUR sultanas with your breakfast, if they're like mine was they'll hit the roof

    Who’s to blame ?

In my case (and this is only a suspicion based on what a nurse told me, not the Dr who put me on a "normal" and not "diabetic" menu) is not because of the eggs per se. The nurse, who might have been wrong, told me that the diabetic menu was deliberately high in carbs because they were giving me...

    Weight loss frustration

I've lost weight on insulin. At first I wasn't on a lot of insulin but in the last 6 months it's tripled. This time last year I was about 95 kg. I'm now 80 kg (male, 187cm tall.. you can work out the BMI, it doesn't interest me :)). I track everything I eat but I concentrate more on carbs than...

    Who’s to blame ?

You're right of course. I got so caught up in the discussion and my experience in the hospital on how to manage diabetes (their view eat as many carbs as you can, apparently) that I lost sight of the the original question. I agree that carbs do not cause diabetes, my apologies

    Who’s to blame ?

Oh, I just remembered another thing that seemed absurd. I was allowed to have jam on my breadroll but not marmalade before I made the Dr see how funny things were

    Who’s to blame ?

I've never had them, but psychological crush fractures sound like the worst. In all seriousness I'm glad that you got the treatment you needed despite having to "fight" for it. Did they allow you 5g of butter? Seeing that I was in hospital for something much worse than diabetes I told the Dr...

Five years in and struggling with nerve damage / depression

I'm not type 2 so take what I say with a grain of salt (is salt ok?). The first thing I'd do is stop feeling guilty if you still are. Yes, perhaps what you're eating is not "the best" (I don't know and I'm not here to judge). But feeling guilty about eating "bad" foods I don't think is helping...

    Who’s to blame ?

Despite my words on here I'm not really an assertive person. But the menu they tried to force on me was so ridiculously high in carbs that I managed to convince the Dr in charge of me to change it (I guess that study at Uni had some effect and enabled me to argue my point effectively). I don't...
