    Sore injection site getting worse

Yes, this should not happen from an insulin injection. Do seek medical help

    Question about medication

Hi, I have no experience of the glutide drugs (there are few different ones) but past postings show they can help with weight loss but can have some side effects. If you are able to control what you eat despite your problems with anxiety, do keep the carbs down as these are the main cause of...

    Co-codamol and Gliclazide

I've never seen anything that suggests these are in conflict. Do some Googling about any contras. When I was on Gliclazide for many years (full dose) I took Co-codamol quite often. Also ask a pharmacist.

    New T2 with hypos

First, the Metformin is unlikely to be the problem as it never has that much effect. Have you considered having Reactive Hypoglycemia? This is where the pancreas produces excessive amounts of insulin after eating. Do suggest this to your GP and do ask for a referral.

Newly Diagnosed, medicated but BS still wild

I think you need to understand a bit more about the drugs and the differences between late onset T1 (LADA). Gliclazide stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin and the fact that 80mg is causing hypos implies your pancreas is in a reasonable state. I was on 320mg/day before insulin and it...

    Clueless

Hi. Don't test in the morning or after a long fasting period. Test 2 hours after a typical meal. Going low-carb is good. Metformin is a very safe drug but only has a small effect.

Are you on steroid meds at all as these can drastically raise BS. What is your weight/BMI? It's possible you may be late onset T1 (LADA). An increased dose of Gliclazide under the instruction of your GP may help but if you are LADA you may eventually need insulin but hopefully my guess is wrong.

Badly treated and discharged by Diabetic Team...any advice?

As you have found, there is a lot of ignorance about diabetes even amongst medics who claim to be diabetes experts. Some of this is due to poor and outdated diabetes training. I would keep going with the low-carb diet, exercise etc. Test occasionally with your meter and if your BS starts to...

How do I prepare for endocrinologist ?

Hi. A fasting glucose test means little as the body does an overnight liver dump of glucose. The HBA1C test is much more useful. As always, a low-carb diet should help a lot. Metformin is a very safe drug and taking it early on shouldn't matter.

    Three-way split Levemir?

Yes, I've done Basal testing from time to time to get my balance as good as I can. I use my Libre graphs to see how my BS is trending. My large ratio variation from morning to evening appears very unusual. Yes the third afternoon Basal does help.

New member. Diagnosed Mody HNF4A after being misdiagnosed with Type 1 after 23 years.

Hi. You would only gain weight with Gliclazide, same for insulin, if your carb intake is too high. Both provide mor insulin in the blood which enables the body to metabolise the carbs into glucose and then possibly fat storage. I was on full dose 320mg for years with no weight gain. Hypos would...

    Three-way split Levemir?

I'm on Basal/Bolus and have overall poor control despite Libre 2, low-carb diet and being slim with low body fat. My evening Bolus/Carb ratio is 3x my morning ratio. I have started splitting my Levemir 3 ways with an afternoon injection to try to control my evening BS curve. Does anyone else do...

glimepiride - how long does it take to work?

I think you will find it is normally taken twice a day to be effective? When I took Gliclazide (a similar drug) it was twice day but do check the leaflet and prescription. Can I ask what sort of diet you are having? Have you considered having the two tests for LADA (late onset T1) as this type...

Feeling very frightened, sudden jump in HbA1C

First, if you have trouble with Metformin you should be changed to Metformin SR (Slow Release). It sounds like you may be Late onset T1 (LADA). There are two tests for that which can help define it i.e. GAD and C-Peptide. Are you losing weight unexpectedly or do you have excess weight? Do stay...

Type 1 - Losing weight on Insulin

First, insulin can't cause weight gain but if you have too many carbs with insulin you may gain weight as insulin enables the body to metabolise those carbs. Don't rely on some people saying you can eat what you like when LADA/T1. I certainly can't and keep my carbs down to 150gm/day when I can...

    Metfiormin reluctant

Hi. Starting low-carb diet is normally the best start point for T2. Metformin can be started later if needed. Metformin is very safe but never has great effect. You can be prescribed Metformin SR (Slow Release) if you have short-term bowel issues with the standard version. I've been on SR for 20...

    Quick Question

Hi. Sadly it occasionally hurts a bit but you do get used to it. Always use the side of the finger and not the middle as many nurses do. Use the lightest setting you can to get blood and do warm the finger (and dry it) to help.

    Statins?

In my opinion you should only take statins if your various cholesterol blood test results indicate bad ratios. Just because you have diabetes doesn't mean you should take statins - that's just bad science. I take them without problems but my wife had very bad liver pain within a of couple of...
