    Can shock cause diabetes?

I have heard it can be trauma or illness, I had a bad viral infection... 6 weeks after-type one diabetic. Same happened to a girl I know. Someone else became diabetic not long after a traumatic event. Apparently it is already there, these events just trigger it! Hope u manage to get him to get...

    So, I'm a T1 & haven't done an injection in 14 months...!

I was just thinking that! I've only been on just short of 2 weeks, but it's amazing that I injected for 18 years and now they are a thing of the past! X X

I should have appreciated the lows!

I had to have protein with my breakfast because I needed a massive amount for it but then dropped too soon after, so had to have egg on toast to stop the lows! Pregnancy and diabetes is completely random! I couldn't take long hardly any long acting insulin as I hypoed in the night all the time I...

    Periods and blood sugar

Hello, I got the coil removed the other week and I have also started on the omnipod in preparation for trying for another baby. I have just started my first cycle since, today I am struggling to keep my sugar up? I have had the coil for 5 years since my little boy was born, and before that...

    Blood tests inacurate.

In some places (my diabetes centre being one of them) they have a finger prick hba1c machine. Takes about 6 minutes to process [emoji5] for those people who forget to have their bloods done and for their people who 'forget' to have their bloods done [emoji57]

    Type 1 Numb Tongue

How low were u when u were woken, if u don't mind me asking? And if u had to be woken, what were the signs u were displaying? It does sound more like u have bitten it/clamped down on it during your hypo, ouch! I'd say if it's no better by the morning maybe get in touch with your gp/diabetes centre x

    Type 1 Numb Tongue

I have had this before, only once! It was really strange! The feeling came back before too long tho, it was minutes rather than hours once the hypo was corrected. It was really weird and horrible! Hope it comes back soon x x

    Support group for diabetes

Thank u, I will print off some leaflets, when I've got something to advertise. Just wondering how to go about it and some ideas of what to do, I mean young adults aren't going to want to sit around and drink tea? I will mention it to my diabetes centre, in actually going there again next week...

    Support group for diabetes

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience in setting up a support type group and how to go about it! I've been diabetic almost 2/3 of my life, I assist a child with diabetes sometimes due to my job. My friend was diagnosed gestational diabetic and I helped her along the way...

    Diabetes poem

Thank you! My diabetes centre are talking about putting it up in their waiting area! I made my hard faced, male 50 year old doctor cry with it! Haha he said he never actually realised how people felt! X

    Am I the only one?

I agree, the carbs and cals app is brilliant! I would ask for another nurse if this is available to u. One of mine is amazing, considerate, realises that you have a life as well as diabetes and wants to help, she would go out of her way intact! The other one loves the sound of her own voice...
