    Venting: diabetes education session

Read through the booklets my mother received, a US hospital. It was actually not bad as they recommended lower carb. I was diagnosed in Singapore, recommended to see a nutritionist, I declined and ended up here. My doc says like 1 out a 100 actually stick with their plan. Wondering if that...

The effects of fruit - study

Fructose going straight to the liver might not be entirely correct, there’s other tissues that have GLUT5 receptors. from what I understand, it’s the excess that goes to the liver. Dose response? I could be wrong though.

    Dr Eric Berg.

Not fond of Berg, I do like Ben Bikman as he is more data driven. Dr. Sten Ekberg has some good stuff. Neither are M.D. I watch the opposite points of view, like, Dr. Layne Norton (Ph.D. Nutritional Sciences). He’s annoying to watch but he critiques the above by reviewing the science. It’s...

    Gum disease and diabetes NB

I kinda think it’s the other around, I was having serious gum issues that suddenly went away once I got under control. Could have been because I quit eating so many sweets too.

Advice after Lymph node removal please

Actually never used an alternate site for long periods. I think I would start by pricking both for some time and see if the difference is consistent enough. If so you’d only need to add or subtract the difference.

Type 2 Completly confused, low card?, plant based?, limit fruit?, eat lots if fruit?

Wonderful, care to share the protein sources? A complete and bioavailable amino acid profile is the first thing I consider when looking at diet. Eggs and dairy are awesome sources, but not plant based.

Type 2 Completly confused, low card?, plant based?, limit fruit?, eat lots if fruit?

The amount of carbs one can handle without introducing insulin resistance is proportional to the amount of skeletal muscle mass. (At a normal body weight) I believe it’s possible to thrive on a plant based diet, but certainly not easy. The goal is to reverse what got you here, either by...

The effects of fruit - study

Yummy! So the fructose is roughly half the carb count. From what I understand, the human body only stores enough enzymes to handle about 40grams, otherwise it’s sent to the liver. I have some sort of fruit every day, usually just before I head out for my morning walk.

    Fasting

I got pretty good results from doing the longer 24-48 hour fasts and keto. Lots of walking helped too. I think it took me about 8 months to drop 30kg. There were times where I was in pretty heavy ketosis when I didn’t feel hungry, so I pushed it pretty hard. But there were other times where I...

Type 2 Does somebody recognize this graph?

Kinda similar to my graph? I eat a big breakfast, do a crushing workout, then a big lunch, and a light dinner.

    Blood glucose and Insulin threshold

I still find the subject quite interesting. Insulin is slightly anabolic to both muscle and adipose tissues. Without it, I assume it’s catabolic to both as well. Bodybuilers purposefully spike their insulin levels post workout by adding dextrose to their post workout drinks. I guess it’s to...

Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

Well done guys! Doing push, pull, legs, training six days a week. Plus 10,000 steps per day. Diet is 220grams of protein, equal amounts of fat and carbs. Usually more on the fats. havnt tested morning fasting in months. Daily randoms are 3.8 - 4.5. I’ll start testing fasting as I have my...

    Insulin Resistance and Fatty Liver

Exercise shouldn’t be discounted as a way to help reduce IR. I needed both diet and exercise to get out of the mess I was in. Some people can’t and need to push more on diet, that’s fine. But if you can exercise, it’s another tool in the toolbox. low carb and walking 2500 steps after every...
