Something to jazz up cold meat

Facing a plateful of cold roast chicken can be a bit meh.... Mix together 5g of 'Blue Dragon Original Sweet Chilli Sauce', 5g of soy sauce (I used Kikkoman), 5g Sesame seed oil, or olive oil. Mix all together and toss over the chicken to give the meat loads of flavour (all under 3 g of carbs)...

    Question regarding test strips

This morning my new box of strips arrived. Here's the results of a test I did between strips from both old and new canisters. Old .... New 4.4 5.6 - so far apart, I thought I'd try again. 4.8 5.0 - close enough. 5.2 +15% of 4.4 = 5.0 -15% of 5.6 = 4.9 Just had another test half...

Probably the most common genetic disease you've never heard of.

Thank you @lindisfel - I 'thought' I'd not heard of Ivor Cummings, but on searching for him I've discovered we both follow each other on Twitter... I'm humbled :) He's 'The Fat Emperor' (https://thefatemperor.com/) - I've now subscribed to his youtube channel - so thanks for the intro. Women...

Probably the most common genetic disease you've never heard of.

This is my present hobby horse! I'm on a quest to tell the world about it! :) The disease is called Haemochromatosis, or the Celtic Curse, estimated to be one person in 83 in Ireland suffering from this disease, and around one in 100 suffering in America (spelt Hemochromatosis in the US)...

Calories in vs. Calories out is apparently scientific fact!

No I'd not heard of this guy! Just listened to his interview, and it's fascinating. Thank you for the head's up.

Calories in vs. Calories out is apparently scientific fact!

Interesting, I guess I should have thought of dietary fat filling up fat cell, my thoughts were on insulin being the only hormone doing this job. God bless Leptin! Thank you for your replies...

Calories in vs. Calories out is apparently scientific fact!

Just a hypothetical question. I've just eaten about 150g of streaky bacon and you'd not be surprised to find it made no impact on my BG because it doesn't have any carbs. So in theory, I could live on streaky bacon and no matter how many calories I consumed eating the rashers, insulin wouldn't...

Calories in vs. Calories out is apparently scientific fact!

Yes, I'm totally on the same hymn sheet as you. It's mind blowing after years of being brainwashed and being told it's 'my fault' for not being able to lose weight, or losing weight then putting the whole lot back on and more! I must have the will power of gnat not be able to successfully diet...

Foods that may cause ketosis dropout?

I used to make bone broth when I was on keto a few years ago. Bone broth takes 12 to 24 hours to cook, the bones are cooked until they break down. Some people add a few mls of cider vinegar to help the breakdown process. Chicken bones break down after about 4 hours in a pressure cooker (yes it's...

    Question regarding test strips

Brilliant idea, test using a strip from the box I'm presently using... repeating with the next box and so on and on... Like it!

    Question regarding test strips

Sad some people feel the need to sell their prescriptions. Didn't know about the accuracy, nor the 'sell by' date. Thanks.

    Question regarding test strips

No I didn't get a 'test solution', maybe this is something I might research. Thanks for the reply.

Calories in vs. Calories out is apparently scientific fact!

So.... the 6 cherries I ate last evening (5.6 net carbs / 26 calories) which raised my BG from 6.1 to 11.2 within half an hour, would make me fatter than 6 slices of streaky bacon (Zero carbs / 270 calories)? I know which one was more satisfying! I am trying so hard to grasp this concept...

    Life's now not so scary...

Around 10 days ago I was in despair! I knew my weight was approaching my highest ever. I felt miserable, didn't dare to jump on the scales, nor even use the blood pressure monitor. The throbbing in my neck, fuzzy head and eyesight scared me. I woke up 'brave', and without giving myself time to...

    Question regarding test strips

I'm newly on this 'voyage of discovery'. I bought an Accu-Chek Performa Nano blood glucose meter last week, and also bought a canister of 50 strips. At the moment I'm doing a lot of testing, so yesterday I ordered a box of 100 strips for £24.68 from Amazon. The strips are aparently made by...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was given the news of my diagnosis last Monday, while I collected my drugs I had a chat with the chemist about getting a meter. He didn't think I needed to test, and he practically did all he could to dissuade me. Testing I finding is very enlightening... I'm keeping a record of what...
