    Frustrated with GPs

As we are now waist deep as a species in obesity and T2 Diabetes you would be forgiven for thinking that one of the first things the committees would do is to educate those at the front line but no... any GP or nurse who wants to help has to learn in their own time and even then faces push back...

    Frustrated with GPs

So, they admit they know little about Diabetes but they do know you're testing too much? :banghead: Honestly, heaven help us when it comes to 'experts'.

    Blood Sugar fluctuated irregularly

This is probably due to what is known as 'Dawn Phenomena'. This is when your liver dumps glucose into the blood stream to give you the energy you need to start your day. For further reading use the search function on the home page.

Low Carb Denver (March 8-10, 2019)

Great presentation. There's always something new from Ivor. So HDL Function not just level? Makes a mockery of the tests that the NHS perform i.e TC plus non HDL.

Pre diabetes - why is blood sugar high after exercising.

I agree. Having viewed a lecture on ectopic fat in the liver and the muscle I think that a slight rise in bg is preferable wrt to risk than leaving the fat in the muscles which exacerbates insulin resistance. Just wish I could do the excercise so as to get the glycogen moving and rid the...

Disheartened after first visit to dr after diagnosis

Perhaps this short piece by our favourite Southport GP, Dr. David Unwin, would interest the OPs Doctor? Just a thought. https://diabetestimes.co.uk/low-carb-advocate-slams-nhs-for-ignoring-pioneering-type-2-diabetes-approach/

Disheartened after first visit to dr after diagnosis

It is such a shame that you do not appear to have the support of your (behind the times) GP. Type 2 Diabetes does not have to be the chronic, progressive disease that some HCPs espouse. It can be well managed and put into remission and you seem to have understood that so carry on with what you...

Need help with Cholesterol my levels

Any great change in diet will affect cholesterol levels. Any ongoing weight loss will affect cholesterol levels.

Type 2 Is it worth further investigation?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Are these pee strips that you are using to detect ketones?

    Prediabetes Blown it!

The one really happy result of a diet lower in carbs is that after a while your palate changes. For me this meant that the temptation to eat highly palateable foods diminished to the point that sweet foods were way too sweet and savoury high carb foods didn't give me that 'mouthfeel' pleasure...

    Prediabetes Blown it!

I was like that when I first got a glucometer but it settled down after a while.

    Prediabetes Blown it!

Well, they reckon it is better to flat line at a slightly higher level than to spike constantly. Mind you, they never say what 'slightly higher' is.
