The first thing to remember is that while you are still losing weight, even if it just a little weight, this can skew your cholesterol levels as the fat cells (adipocytes) not only store fat but they store a tiny amount of cholesterol too.
I would say that you still need to lower your...
My favourite analogy is the the Japanese Underground Train analogy but I won't spoil it for you :). Second favourite is the Sugar Bowl analogy. Fung's latest podcast with Brett Scher that I viewed just a few days ago is wonderful and is probably on bulkbikers link, well worth a listen as it...
I don't think you could ask for anyone better than Dr. Fung for helping you to fully understand Diabetes and Obesity and once you understand it is so much easier to tackle things. His analogies help you to 'visualise' what is going on.
I read one figure put at £340 million into the gov coffers from the sugar tax. Does anyone believe that they will scrap a tax that brings in that amount of dosh?
As our (current) PM said not so long ago 'Austerity is over' but never a mention of lowering VAT to it's previous level of 17.5%...
Metformin does not work on a meal by meal basis and does not ameliorate spikes. As far as I am aware the advice to take Met with meals is to ease the effects that can occur in the erm... bathroom area.
A year old but as I said in my title "Always a pleasure to listen to" and I think a great intro for those newly diagnosed with Pre Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes.
Welcom to the forum. Here is a note of hope for you. My HbA1c was 11.1 (98) on diagnosis. Four months later and using diet plus Metformin that figure dropped to 6.1 (43) and later dropped to non Diabetic levels. It can be done with dietary changes and lots of support and learning here on...
The only difference that I can see is the the 'of which sugars' will hit the bg faster (but not by much) than the other carbs.
For instance if a food is 76g of carbs per 100g of which sugars is 55g then that is going to blow your head off.
But the carb count tells us which foods to avoid at a...
This can be a sign of healing, funnily enough. Damaged nerves sometimes mask pain, tingling and burning so as healing starts these are the first things we feel. It can take some time but normality can return. To be on the safe side if these symptoms persist see your health care team.
Well...
Time of day can have an effect.
The differences in the levels of fats and protein (which can slow down the absorption of carbs) can have an effect, too.
The total amount of carbs may be different.
Sometimes, it's just one of those things.
With a nod to the recent celebration of Professor Tim Noakes' 70th birthday here is a half hour radio programme on Banting/LCHF. Enjoy.

Can't get a CGM? That's politics.
Can't get an appointment or a referral to see a HCP? That's politics.
Tax on sugary drinks including Lucozade? That is politics.
