Hi @Tabbyjoolz my total cholesterol was 7 last Aug and is still the same, so lchf hasn't made it any worse [emoji4] I'm having another blood test in April so will see if there is any change then before I decide whether to alter my diet! It seems crazy to give a diabetic a drug that could raise...

Thank you all so much for sharing your knowledge with me and confirming my own thinking. I argued my case yesterday with the practice nurse but she would not concede on anything other than to say she had to stick to NHS guidelines ! Why are they so outdated when there is so much research and...

Hi all, good news is bs is down to 6.3, previously 6.8 and a weight loss of 16kg since last September following the lchf diet. However my total cholesterol is still 7, HDL 2.25, LDL 4.1, trigs 0.8, cholesterol/HDL ratio 2.78, so have been given statins and told not to eat butter, cheese...

    IT CAN BE DONE

So encouraging for new type 2's like me, only 8 weeks since diagnosis I've lost 19 lbs so far on LCHF diet, not on any medication and pretty much making it up as I go along as zero advice from GP surgery other than eye screening and a pending day course and a see you in six months... Interested...

Thank you so much, I'm 64 so exempt for prescription charges. Going to ask my GP before buying anything, it's worth a try! I've found lots on the internet, think I have info overload at the moment

Thanks prem51 I've been looking on Amazon and eBay and also at demos on YouTube, I think I will go for Accu Chek Mobile, it looks simple to use and also very compact, we travel quite a bit so it would be easy to take with me.

Thanks for the advice Prem51, I had the eye screening last week which was fine and the practice nurse tested the soles of my feet, also fine, and she definitely said I was diabetic. I need to find out where to buy a blood glucose meter, also what levels I should be aiming for. Anyone any ideas...

Hi I'm Jilly and was told I had type 2 diabetes 6 weeks ago after a routine blood test. My blood sugar was 6.8. I have been given zero info from my surgery other than I should try and lose a bit of weight and they'd see me in six months.... So, I Googled it, put myself on a very low carb, high...
