On this Forum we are mostly adults. In life we take responsibility for our own actions and accept the consequences that incur from transgression. It's much the same on a Forum. Whether you like a moderator or Boss is immaterial , if there are rules then you follow them. I'm sure you have rules...

    Change of moderation team

We have always moderated the Forum in the best interests of the members using the existing rules. However those rules were made at a turbulent time in the Forum's history, they need reviewing, I have asked several times for this to be done. Until that is done that is all the mods have to work with.

I'm slightly confused Patch. Can you please point out the difference between Benedict editing a post and putting ' comment removed ' and either myself or Ken putting ' comment removed '. Also Benedict locking a post with an explanation and one of us locking a post with an explanation Please...

I wish I'd been told it earlier...

People on low carb diets quite often do not realise that protein converts to carbs in the absence of energy making carbs ( 60%) and wonder why their BG levels are higher than they thought they should be. The human body is a very finely tuned organism when it comes to protecting and feeding...

    Staying on the sugar wagon

You can get the dark magnum in packs of mini Magnums. IIRC they are 16 carbs. Maybe you could work one into your daily allowance or keep for weekend treat ?

    Wee infections...going to hospital now

I used to get a lot of this when I was a student. Do you drink enough fluid ? At least 2 litres a day if possible to keep the kidneys flushing. You could also try Cranberry juice if it doesn't send your Bg levels too high and if you are not on any medications that forbid cranberry juice, check...

How many carbohydrates do you consume per day - Chat Thread

Re: How many carbohydrates do you consume per day - Chat Thr I low carb, have done for 4 years and am still not on any medication. I have probably never been in ketosis but have lost over 3 stone in weight. The key to this is not only carb reduction but portion sizes reduction as well. This...

    My reading yesterday!!

We all have the odd treat now and again.....no-one's perfect !! :D A piece of Birthday cake or a special night out is not going to kill you as long as it is occasional. Try dark chocolate the higher percentage the better as it has less carbs ! Good for those occasional 'comfort' nibbles !

    My reading yesterday!!

Keep testing before a meal and two hours after and keep a note of the foods you eat. If you eat starchy carbs such as bread, cereals etc then try testing at three hours as well to see if there is any rise. Try and keep the carbs you eat down by reducing the portions a bit. Remember sugar is a...

    My reading yesterday!!

She's right, illness doing affect Bg levels, usually up ! I like to keep mine in the 5's and 6's. A non Diabetic can keep them in the 4's or lower but a Diabetic risks Hypo's trying to keep them that low ! This is especially dangerous if you drive as low numbers can affect your concentration.

    My reading yesterday!!

All your readings are within the NICE guidelines for a Type 2 Diabetic, Roxy, which is a good thing. They could be even lower ! :D  You seem to be able to tolerate some things, such as Bran flakes and half a banana, which would have my Bg levels through the roof ! Keep testing and...

    Diabetic Advice from 1940

Interesting to note that, although Metformin was first synthesized in the 1920's it did not become prescribed till 1958 in the UK. Once they had a treatment for Type 2 they then appeared to change the dietery advice....did they think that the Metformin was doing all the work ? .....not sure ...
