Dexcom sensors how long do they last?

It doesn't matter. The xDrip box captures the values sent out every 5 minutes from the transmitter - it by passes the Dexcom Receiver (or Vibe pump) & sends the data to your mobile phone. N.B. It doesn't work with the G5 (yet).

Dexcom sensors how long do they last?

iHs & Diamattic, I suggest you look at building yourself an xDrip. On the receiver I follow a similar pattern to yourselves. However the xDrip box & associated mobile phone software allow you to see "raw" readings when the Dexcom Receiver has "???" displayed. The readings may be erratic for a...

Dexcom sensors how long do they last?

Hi Christian, Yes you leave the sensor in. Select "Stop Sensor" on the receiver (or wait for it to stop automatically), wait a few seconds then select "Start Sensor". You then wait 2 hours as you did when you actually inserted the sensor, & when prompted enter 2 blood test readings to calibrate.

General Guidance on Insulin Resistance vs Blood Glucose

Micro managing like that is a whole lot easier with CGM. Hope your Libre comes through soon!

    Type 1 vs Type 2

I suppose if we were living in a very poor country or a war zone & couldn't get hold of insulin, the comparison might look a little different.

Average number of hypo's per week

I went from 7 or 8 a week with some occasional really frightening overnight ones, to 2 or 3 technical hypos a month usually exercise related. The improvement thanks to (self funded) CGM.

Yes, me too, I think it does very much depend on who is doing the checks.

    Building Your Own Equipment

Many people have. The fact that it's in a transparent box with all the components on view & a sensible explanation, seems to satisfy the security people. I've done a couple of flights with mine in my hand luggage which was scanned without comment.

I'm sure you are right. I feel OK apart from the lack of a decent sleep. Will try to put that right now.

    T1 Life

I've just had a really frustrating 48 hours or so. Insulin shots that seem to do nothing, shots that did way more than I'd expect. Food that had no discernible effect or alternatively sent me soaring. Two nights of broken sleep which never helps. Then after lunch today I waited to see which way...

    Dexcom G5 Prices Now Revealed!

Can't help wondering if AT have made a mistake on their website. As I understand it there are 2 transmitters in a box in the USA. It's such a leap in costs I can't imagine many self funders moving from the G4.

    T1 diabetes in the family?

I was diagnosed aged 39, my elder sister was also diagnosed at about 39 (the diagnosis took a while). No one else in the family with Type 1.

Anyone got experience of Medtronic CGMs?

I've been using the Dexcom G4 for 18 months & wouldn't be without it. It's very expensive but gives me peace of mind. It also gives you access to the wonderful Nightscout Project where lots of wonderful work is being done especially for parents/carers. http://www.nightscout.info

Wait for Dexcom 5 or Get Dexcom 4?

I understand that transmitters will be sold in boxes of 2, so covering 6 months. Assuming the price is similar the big difference is that the G4 transmitter can last 10 to 12 months or more in practise, though it's only warranted for 6. Each G5 transmitter automatically switches off after 3...

Good to hear that they are replacing them. Not so good to hear you've been in hospital! Hope you are on the road to recovery.

My sensors lot number is different. Have Animas offered to replace yours?

My lot numbers are different too. I'm using the first from this box now. It seemed to take longer than usual to settle down, but is very good now.

    xDrip questions

I added this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KRZTH1Q/ref=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_1 to my last xdrip box. It works well, if somewhat slower than a direct connection. It gets a bit warm too. The main thing is you don't need to stress any wiring when plugging in & out. I'm now testing the xBridge2...

    BG troubleshooting

I'd agree with most of what Noblehead says but I'd say that the overnight readings indicate that basal is about right so I'm not sure about the afternoon. It seems more likely that the lunch time ratio is too high? Of course it may be that day time basal requirements are lower than night time...
