    Basal-IQ

@aphex2k No, this is my first pump, but I've been using Dexcoms for 5 years or so. There are a lot of developments coming up in the next couple of years. Tandem will have Control-IQ, the full closed loop, Tidepool will have a loop based on the DIY APS algorithm & working with Omnipods. Medtronic...

    Upgrading the 640g to 670g

Does the 670G do "micro boluses"? I thought it only adjusted basal insulin?

    Basal-IQ

The Dexcom G6 still doesn't read true live blood sugar levels but I think they've tweaked the algorithm to reduce the lag. For much of it's life I don't do any calibrations, though I do at least one check blood test each day. The T:Slim X2 is significantly smaller than the 670G.

    Basal-IQ

The algorithm is pretty simple. If it predicts that you will fall below 4.4 in the next 30 minutes it suspends all insulin delivery. As soon as blood sugars rise at all it resumes delivery. Your target is irrelevant as far as Basal IQ is concerned.

    Basal-IQ

Yes it's totally dependent on good CGM readings. I disabled Basal IQ for the first 24 hours after changing my sensor. Prior to this my Dexcom alarm was similar to yours. For the same reason I think it would be good if there was an option to change the Basal IQ target level to perhaps 5.0 rather...

    Basal-IQ

Yes, I am learning when I can trust it to do this. If there is insulin on board you have to be careful. It can't cope with everything but if you do go low it will have at least reduced the severity of the low.

    Basal-IQ

Agreed. This is 45 minutes later. No jelly babies or anything else were hurt during this time!

    Basal-IQ

My Tandem T:Slim X2 pump was (finally) updated to get readings from my G6 CGM. This includes Basal-IQ Tandem's predictive low suspend feature. The red bands show insulin suspended.

    Upgrading the 640g to 670g

Sorry to hear this, I've read quite a few reports of similar experiences. It seems that the Medtronic CGM is the weak link.

    XDrip: instructions for using app?

Hi Alex, I use a Dexcom G6 which needs little calibration but from my experience with the G4, calibrating is something of an art! It's a good idea to calibrate when readings are steady as there is always a lag - the Libre reads interstitial fluids not blood, so is behind the blood glucose...

    XDrip: instructions for using app?

OK. If you click the symbol (a syringe I think) you can enter a blood glucose reading, grams of carbohydrate &/or insulin dose. It will then upload these to Nightscout if you have the Care Portal set up. Really useful for reviewing data.

    XDrip: instructions for using app?

I don't think there is. I suggest joining the xDrip+ Facebook page where you can ask questions. There are also some documents in the Files section there. This page of the AndroidAPS documentation may also be useful: https://androidaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/EN/Configuration/xdrip.html I've...

    Moving to the Pump

I've had my t:slim x2 for about 6 months and I'm very happy with it. Still waiting for my Basal IQ update though. Due "End of September" so should be soon! New pumps will include it anyway.

    Bet it tasted good though!

    Diabetes Times

Two sub headlines in the Diabetes Times coverage of EASD 2019 https://diabetestimes.co.uk/easd-highlights/ "Poor diabetes control cost NHS £3 billion in 2017/18" "CGM shown to be beneficial in type 1 diabetes" A total of 94 adults with type 1 diabetes were followed for three years. Those who...

    Dexcom G6, Libre, and Spike

Yes you can start using xDrip+ and don't need the Dexcom app. I just use xDrip+. If you use xDrip's own algorithm you can continue using a sensor until readings deteriorate. Using the "Native" Dexcom values (which I usually do) has become a little less definite because Dexcom have changed the...

    Upgrading the 640g to 670g

Yes, I understand that the algorithm is based on the last 6 days, so would presumably change at midnight. I've read plenty about the 670G but never used it. Obviously good CGM results are essential. I'd say keep talking to/pestering Medtronic they should know how to sort this out by now - the...

    Upgrading the 640g to 670g

I saw an explanation of this here: http://sugabetic.me/the-isig-equation/ But I would agree that calibrating should be much simpler.

    Cannual sealing off

This sounds like something known as "Tunneling" which I think means it leaks back around the cannula even though it's still inserted. I've read it is more common with Omnipods. Possibly a longer cannula would work better? Best to talk to Medtronic.

    Upgrading the 640g to 670g

Probably the 780G: https://diatribe.org/news-medtronic-hypoglycemia-prediction-iqcast-sugariq-and-timing-next-gen-minimed-780g-closed-loop It will be interesting to see how Auto mode goes for you.
