Do you wait until you are in range before eating?

Yes I do wait. Usually at breakfast when my levels creep up quickly without me being able to take prior action. During the day if I’m higher than I think I should be when I know insulin is wearing off or if I suspect I’ve made a previous error I will inject to rectify. This is easy to do with...

    50 years this August.

Wow @robertFE thank you for sharing your life as a diabetic. What an inspiration for showing how to get on with your life. New diabetics should read this to show living with this disease for many years is not a death sentence if we go out of range. How outrageous your treatment was at school re...

    Libre 2 questions

The codes you must check are on the pull off foil on the packet the sensor is in and the applicator top that you twist to attach. I have always checked, but never had a discrepancy.

    Libre 2 questions

They can be a bit erratic on the first day. Though I put mine on 24 hours prior to the old one running out. If the high alarms keep going off, it shows the area you have to work on to try and get better control. See it as a challenge.

We have a second grandson who arrived in February. Have started to look after him for the odd hour getting us ready for our one day a week in November. Best thing ever! I have been backwards and forwards to my home town the past couple of months supporting elderly parents. On top of everything...

How did type 1 diabetics used to manage sugars whilst sleeping, before the glucose monitors came out? Advice needed

I always woke up. I would be low but aware enough to stick a couple of Jelly Babies in and turn over.

Issue with Libre - blank screen

People mentioning TIR for last 24 hours been lost. Unfortunately that is not a feature on CGMs. It was what I missed when wearing a Libre 3 for the trial. Though in fairness it helps to make you feel a little less obsessed. @AsepticSid to get the dotted lines go into settings. These are target...

    Freestyle Libre2 update sorted

As a past customer. Purchasing for 2 years prior to getting on NHS. I was kept up to date very well with emails. They have also reported themselves to the MHRA.

How to encourage sugar intake during hypo?

@nikon2481 obstinacy is definitely a problem when low. My advice would be do not let yourself get so low your own brain will not alert you to getting that juice down. Hopefully you have a CGM. Set your alarms for lows at a higher level and take action at that point. Even if just one dextrose to...

    Issues with insulin change

Obviously take advice from medical professionals, but I would be asking why an earth someone with years of experience couldn’t have had a quick carb counting lesson and been trusted to get on with it. It sounds pretty obvious that the NovoRapid is not enough for what he is eating. Within a...

Newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes, started on insulin - how long to feel better? (e.g. energy levels, doing more, going back to work etc.)

I took a month off work. To get my energy levels up, to allow my eyes to adjust and allow myself time to get the routine in place. I did this mainly as I worked in a primary school, couldn’t drive because of my eyesight. And it would be difficult to manage young children and my own needs...

Too many people not having access to blood glucose machines.

@Fairygodmother it certainly appears as those put straight onto Libre are not also given blood glucose testing equipment and training to use it. Worrying! Being without a sensor allows you to be aware of how your body is feeling and teaching you to recognise highs and lows.

Too many people not having access to blood glucose machines.

Is it just me or has the debacle over the Libre 2 upgrade highlighted peoples inability to manage this condition by blood glucose testing alone. Also, why have people not got access to these items. I have 2 different monitors that use different strips. Which my Gp prescribes monthly for one and...

As @Ushthetaff states it is very very important to rotate your sites. I have a week for each area and move around for each injection.

@ChrisAskew just to point out, finger pricking for highs and lows are still recommended by Libre.

Freestyle Libre 2 to become real time continuous glucose monitor in UK from mid July 2023

The operating system required for I phone is iOS 15.5 or higher. For Android it is Android 8 or higher. The Libre Linc app version is 2.10. However they have definitely taken the app down.
