    Rice

I use cups as measurement, so that's how I understand it. It may be more than your total daily consumption, however, I was responding to the author of this topic - she's asking about rice. My response was meant for the author of this thread. A lot of sound advise had been given - most likely...

    Rice

The way I understand it is that 1cup of cooked brown rice has 15% carbs. You're right. The only difference is that in 1 cup of brown rice, you get 3.5 gm of fiber (which you can also deduct from the total amount of carbs). Compared to other types of rice, brown rice still is, the "lesser evil."

    Rice

For how much rice? It is still high in carbs, especially so if we're on a very low carb diet. However, I'm simply answering the question posted by the author. She wants to up her carb intake. She mentioned "moderate," which I take she means eating rice in moderation. In the end - it'll be...

Brown rice. It's lesser carbs than the other types and you get soluble fiber from it.

    Van Driver Meals

Have a stash of raw nuts kept in your van at all times. They're great for emergencies - stave off hunger. They're high on protein and good cholesterol. Salad with greens and meats/or cheese (keep your dressing handy), and hard-boiled eggs on the side.

    HbA1C test question

She gave me a copy of the print when I was diagnosed with diabetes. I kept that in my file. I'll make sure to ask for a copy every time from now on. They'll serve as another incentive to keep aiming for targets!

    HbA1C test question

I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. The doc sent me to an independent lab (Dynacare). That lab apparently sent my results to the doc's office the next day. Should I ask for a print out from the doc's secretary, or from the lab?

    Frightened and confused

My doctor did not prescribe me any medication, instead she wants me to tackle my type 2 with diet and activities. I was not quite overweight, but I've read that weight loss makes an impact on reducing blood glucose levels (it benefits the pancreas, and liver). I've led an active life due to...

    Counter Weight-plus

Hi Hibby, generally speaking, yes I definitely agree with what Pipp had said: you've got to include veggies (the nutrient-densed low-carb ones) in your carb counting (like leafy greens, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, spinach, etc), and nuts like plain almonds (even if just about 10...
