Sorry to hear about the recent diagnosis, I hope that the stent will make a difference to how you feel. My brother and a couple of friends have had stents and it's made a big difference. It's not really possible to advise as I'm not a doctor. Obviously you have been relatively successful with a...

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

This is a a wind up! Right? For some reason this particular virus also took out a lot of NHS and care home staff and if I'm not mistaken, most if not all 'not very dangerous respiratory viruses' don't do that, or have I missed something. They don't all look that old either. The sort of thing...

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

I haven't included a link to the WHO, just a mention that they have now changed their advice, hopefully having looked at the evidence. It might be that mentioning the WHO isn't going to convince anyone in particular although it should, given what they're there for. I'm tempted to issue a...

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

The WHO recommend wearing a mask. Over 100 countries have mandated wearing a mask, some from as far back as April (https://masks4all.co/what-countries-require-masks-in-public/ for a list) There are ample studies and research documents for everyone to see online. Here's just the first ten I...

    Am worried about diabetes

Try not to worry, a change in diet as already suggested will help matters. When I started I was eating over 250gms of carb a day, sadly a figure recommended. Now I eat less than 50gms, I don't miss carbs and my BG is usually pretty good.

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

I wonder what research the chief medical officer is basing her opinion on? She disagrees but based what? Just opinion? Her statement starts confusing the issue, which the government have already been unclear on in the first place. The government are quite happy if we all get the virus, do I want...

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

I would like to try and dispel the myth that wearing masks is ineffective. It's dangerous to perpetuate this myth, it will affect people's lives. Research has been carried out over the last 20 years or more, a lot in south east Asia because that's where they have experienced many epidemics (a...

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

In what way can you understand something that has no evidence? Why would you respect or believe something that is quite clearly wrong? There is stacks of evidence going back 20 years, research with conclusions stating we should wear a mask. Not reading it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Where...

    Mask Exemptions in enclosed environments

Interesting statement, I wouldn't call you selfish, but your action of not wearing a mask completely overlooks the risk to others. I have no problems if someone can't wear a mask but that doesn't change the fact that wearing a mask protects others more than you. I'd be happier if everyone wore...

Is this the end of the line?

As mentioned before, CICO is an over simplification. I was talking to HID about this, she studied Thermodynamics as part of her degree. The human body and weight loss or gain was never mentioned. The First Law of Thermodynamics applies to a closed system whereas the human body is not a closed...

Is this the end of the line?

Yes, based on the theory that eating too little means the body gets used to it etc etc. Basically it's much more complex. I had spoken to him about low carb and it wasn't happening so he ate as normal and let the drugs do the work. I've always felt that dealing with diabetes is very much like...

Is this the end of the line?

One slight problem with the First Law of Thermodynamics with reference to the body. It assumes that the body, like a store manager closing his books at the end of the day, counts up calories in, calories out and then deposits the excess into the fat 'bank' or subtracts the deficit from the fat...

Is this the end of the line?

I forgot to reply to this bit earlier, sorry. Low carb is obviously keeping my BG to a certain level, just not low enough. If I should forget low carb all together, my BG would be seriously out of control. I don't know if this gives an idea of what's going on but yesterday I ate scrambled egg...

Is this the end of the line?

I quote 50gms as an overestimate. I have gone through long periods of weighing food and using the software, but not at the moment, too many things going on with trying to sell dad's house. Thanks for your opinion, a 30 day meat and water trial is something I will investigate, I can see...

Is this the end of the line?

I'm intrigued that you should think I was being careful, it was not intentional. Yes, there are two problems, personally I believe they are related, maybe they're not. I was advised to take Victoza because of a metabolic problem. The fact is that over decades I have followed a low calorie diet...

Is this the end of the line?

I've been very successful over the last 5 years or so, with keeping my BG in check with HbA1c around forty something, maybe not perfect and could do better (maybe). My carbs are usually less than 50gms per day. Last year, after seeing a GP who specialised in metabolic problems I was advised to...

Pneumococcal vaccine For diabetes not age

I have regular flu jabs and had a pneumonia several years ago. I was initially told that it was for ten years and then I was told I didn't need it again. Confusing? I've had a little google and see that there is a particular vaccine that needs redoing every 5 years. "The Pneumovax 23 covers...

Do I need a flu vaccine for T2D? Anxiety playing havoc!

I always have had a flu jab every year and will always have a flu jab every year. I have never experienced any side effects except for a sore arm sometimes. If I was to be asked by anyone whether to have a flu jab or not and some of my younger friends have asked, I would say YES. No question.

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Just a thought to add to the confusion. I have four friends friends who have had Covid19. Two of them, a mother and daughter were in the same household where the daughter had caught the virus from a work colleague who actually died as a result of Covid19. Yet my mate Wyn, the father, had no...

    HbA1c results are in...

Well done, but don't forget that you have to keep doing what you have been doing to maintain those results. What you might like to do to get a fuller picture, is get a c-peptide test and an insulin resistance test. They're not essential but will tell you how your pancreas is doing and also if...
