    Medication

Changing your diet WILL help lower your BG (reducing carbs), but be very careful with your Gliclazide as they can cause hypo's. If you are in the UK and drive you should have also been prescribed a tester & strips, use them to monitor you levels carefully

    Travel insurance.

@MAH1975 Please get it asap - if (god forbid) something happens (and not just to you) and you can't go you'll lose all your money. Travel Insurance should be taken out as soon as the holiday is booked

    Mental health and test results

What do you eat for breakfast? I ask because when I reduced my carbs the unfortunate metformin side effects lessened for me

    Travel insurance.

I use various price comparison websites (money supermarket, compare the market etc), always declare ALL conditions when asked, otherwise the insurance company can refuse to pay out. 1 week in France from the UK earlier this year was about £11.00

    Hello I am new here

I highly recommend any of Kate Caldesi cookbooks,(if you're lucky The Works have them) but for a low(er) carb way of eating, your protein of choice and above ground veg. Eg Sunday roast with no spuds but extra cabbage, cauliflower etc

Tessts and more tests and even more tests

If you're in the UK you should get a prescription medical exemption form from your GP - Free prescriptions. You are legally entitled to the time off as you're now covered by the disability discrimination act, and "reasonable adjustments" must be made. (They don't have to pay you, but they do...

    Jardiance and dry mouth feeling

If you're taking any of the "flozin" medications high levels of hydration are a must due to the way they work. If you don't drink enough (doesn't have to be water any sugar free liquid will do) you run the risk of thrush. I've been on a sister drug, dapagloflozin for about 7 years with few...

Blood and needle phobia making life difficult!

Just a quick hug and message that it is possible to come out of the other side of a needle phobia - I know I have. Mine came from several bad experiences as a small child. As an adult I decided to do something about it and did my own exposure therapy by becoming a blood donor (I know that it's...

    Livlife Low Carb Bread Discontinued

Lidl do a "low GI" unsliced loaf now and there are also some part-baked rolls and thins similar to the Warburtons ones, but I don't know what the macro's are as I'm trying not to have any bread products (they're the carb I struggle with the most)

    Cholesterol

Did they give you a "headline" figure or a HDL/LDL trigs split? In my personal opinion the overall figure a lot of people get is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. The HDL/LDL figures can be a bit more useful - there are various calculators you can put them into. BUT and it's a big one...

    Shake Recommendations

Personally I've used the Slimfast Keto ones, but you do need to plan what you're going to transition to after you finish your VLCD as that's where a lot of people end up back at square one very quickly

    Alternative to HbA1C

Happy New Year everyone, After a bit of advise from you knowledgeable lot. In my last set of bloods my FBC has thrown up (among other things) a high Haemoglobin level, which I've had a referral for. Would this affect my HbA1c results, and if so should I be asking the DN for an alternative...
