What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Didn't have breakfast. Lunch: Some spinach, celery, cucumber, half an avocado, 3 ounces of protein (ham/cheese) and few Nairn oatcakes as knew I wouldn't be eating for a while. Late dinner: Some broccoli and kale, two beef burgers with mushrooms, pepper and some spice.

Hey guys - @ONash987 , @Jems7 , @Amrit1712 and @Cloe-1992 how are you all doing? Diagnosed April 2015 so still learning lots each week, especially foods to have and to avoid. Snacks for me - few brazil nuts, cucumber slices, celery sticks, hard boiled eggs...usually I don't need snacks as...

    Suggestions/Tips for sport and exercise.

Always have a form of glucose available encase of a sudden low. If I'm running I usually test every 5k to see how the glucose levels are looking..seem to drop quite sharply between 3.5 and 5k so usually take on some glucose tablets around that time. Just trial and error but keep persevering :)

Low Carb Pizza!! Cracked it 1st time.

Made this on Friday night - apart from one side sticking to the baking parchment, a roaring success. Incredible taste and better than any Dominoes or Pizza Hut. Why spend 15 quid on Dominoes when you can make one of these beauties?

    I need chocolate

Diabetic chocolate gives you the scoots... stick to 80-90% dark chocolate in small quantities of course :)

Average number of hypo's per week

Also saw this too... since transitioning to low carb my number of hypos have been reduced dramatically. I'm probably averaging 1-2 hypos every 10 days and usually because of sport where I still can't get avoid a hypo in the first 5k.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My latest HbA1c - 5.4 (35 mmol/mol), down from 7.1 (54 mmol/mol) about 4 months ago. What an incredible feeling and much of that is due to the support/advice received in this group through sharing your own experiences, posting relevant books and links to read up on. Cholesterol was 8.7...

    What is the honeymoon period?

I only need 6 units of lantus when following LCHF at the minute. Of course that can change pretty quickly! Still feel at times maybe I should be bolusing but then I would hypo with what I eat... lol

    Diets and exercise

Honestly @Diabetic2000 I would recommend giving low carbohydrate high fat way of eating a go. My confidence for sport (mainly running and cycling), teaching and general day-to-day things has increased dramatically. I've always been slim but been doing LCHF five/six weeks now and I'd say I'm in...

    carbs in diet

Welcome @oggey4 I agree with above comments too. There are many things to take on board when newly diagnosed. The important things in the early stages are checking your glucose regularly (wake up, before meals, two hours after meals and bedtime), and getting used to taking injections and...
