What I mean by that comment is that the research is aimed at lowering costs for the NHS which means lowering the costs of medication. Prof Taylor talks about the cost to the NHS from type 2. Which bit of that don't you understand?

Surely the reason that they won't compare low carb and ND is that once remission is achieved there is a 'return' to structured and supported 'normal healthy' eating i.e. eating carbs. It seems to me 'remission' is all about being able to eat carbs again without having type 2 levels of glucose.

Maybe it's because traditionally pre-diabetics could stop becoming type 2 with lifestyle changes rather than being type 2 and being it for ever. Oops nope that doesn't really work does it given that I've been told that I am not considered diabetic by my surgery so what is the difference for me...
