    Muscle cramps

    Sorry. I'll try again. For example: if your diet was high in sugar on Day 1, can it take a couple of days or more to show an increase on Day 3;

    "Diabetic" Library

    I have some good books on diabetes. Here are two of my favourites: 1. "Diabetes Care: a practical manual", Dr. Rowan Hillson MBE, Consultant Physician, Diabetes and Endocrine Unit, Oxford University Press, 2008 Oxford Care Manuals 2. "The Joslin Guide to Diabetes", Richard S. Beaser, M.D. with...

    Smoothies

    Apologies for my cut-off reply... cont'd...."thought it was"- hyperglycemia but it was so severe and unusual that it may have been Mango (containing PYCP?) enzyme and resulting in anaphylactic reaction.

    Low carb diet and antidepressants

    Hi Bex72. I'm sorry to read that you have your own troubles to deal with as well as your child's poor health. I hope you can get some support, maybe with your dr.'s advice? I have had similar problems switching meds (necessary but unfortunate). My new meds skyrocketed my blood sugar, even...

    BLOOD PRESSURE FOR DIABETICS

    Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately, I am severely allergic to antihypertensives; possibly due to interaction with other drugs, they landed me in the ER. I am trying to keep the salt down, and exercise as much as I can.

    How much insulin do you take?

    That's much lower than mine; I tried lowering mine but noticed that the morning reading was higher than usual so I went back to the 39-41 range. I have been taking Humulin N for about 5yrs now. I think the Humulin ones last for 12 hrs. but I notice that the first few hours reduce the sugar...

    How much insulin do you take?

    I just thought there may be an average dose for personal variables. "As long as it works Thank you Cassise; it does seem to be variable from person to person and their particular diet and pancreatic condition.

    How much insulin do you take?

    I'm curious about members here taking insulin: your dose, time taken, type, if you are T1 or T2, side effects? I would like to compare your insulin treatment with mine and if you adjust it from time to time.

    Gliclazide

    It's less strong than others: e.g. glubutryde. With my insulin, I don't have to take all 4 tablets per day (80mg) according to meter reading and activity. I find it has been helpful for fluctuations.

    T1D and high anti-thyroglubulin antibodies

    I suspect a thyroid problem because of a med switch (implicated with thyroid function). I take Synthroid 0.112 but lately I have had muscle problems, which could of course be any number of things, given so many meds and new meds. I hope to get an endo referral. Sympathies;

    Any known side effect of low carb diet

    Lumbar puncture-- ouch! that seems more serious than any carb content in your diet. Good luck.
