    Carb Counting

I am in Canada and we have to subtract fiber from the carb count. If the fiber count and the sugar count add up to the total carbs or close to it that means you have to subtract the fiber.

    Cauliflower VS Keto pizza Base

Another vote for fathead pizza, it is amazing. I just throw everything in the stand mixer and mix, I have never messed around microwaving and it turns out perfect.

    Type two, help needed

You could try asking your doctor for a c-peptide test to see what your insulin levels are like.

Two weeks of consecutive 24 hour fasts

I found that my fasting was indeed higher for the first week or two of one meal a day, usually in the 6-7 range, and then a sharp drop happened and I was seeing fasting levels of 3.8 to 4.2. A two day trip to the city and way too many carbs and they were right back up to the 6 range. I am back...

Advice for a newbie at gluten free

Hi there, I am a type 2 with coeliac. Surprisingly when I went gluten free it was my arthritis that improved the most. It can run the gamut from no obvious symptoms to life threatening. Some things to look out for foodwise are sauces, gravies, salad dressings, most canned soups, and most ready...

    Type 2 Average HbA1C Level

I am not sure exactly what you mean but mine is 5.5% on metformin and diet control. This is considered a normal level for a non-diabetic.

Type 2 Diabetes and huge weight loss

I have lost 60 lbs and my last A1c was 37. Mostly keto but I was stuck for a while and decided to try the one large low carb meal a day as I knew from testing that I had high insulin. The last 10 lbs came off quickly with that. I still have 50 lbs to lose and I think I will switch back and forth...

    Have we overtime created diabetics?

I think maybe, and it's just an opinion, that T1 is increasing because people who develop it are living to have their own children. The genes may not express in every generation but before insulin therapy a large percentage of T1's died before ever having families. I do not think it is the whole...

Does diabetes life expectancy change if you are diagnosed earlier?

You do not say whether you are asking about type 1 or type 2 and I think that makes a difference. Type 1's know fairly quickly that something is wrong and can get treatment right away. Someone can have type 2 for many years before diagnosis without knowing it. A type 2 diagnosed at age 45 may...

    I think I’m out too. ...

I have noticed a lot of long standing members leaving. Some have said goodbye and some have just quietly faded out. I have also noticed more and more personal attacks and nitpicking at every little detail of some peoples posts. When I was diagnosed I joined four forums and this was the only one...

Type 2 How can I lower my BG levels?

Hi. If the metformin continues to cause upset tell your doctor. Some people simply cannot tolerate it and it really does not do much for glucose levels. Diet is really the best route.

    What diet does everyone follow

For the last few weeks I have been eating 1 meal a day around 1000 to 1200 calories, less than 20 gram carb and gluten free. Normally I eat keto and gluten free.

Confused why can't get BG under 7

Hi from BC. Maybe try having a couple hard boiled eggs first thing if you are looking for grab and go food. Often we are more sensitive to carbs first thing in the morning and a banana is very carb dense. Another thing to keep in mind is that peanuts and cashews are not nuts but legumes and...

    High c-peptide results

Most type 2 diabetics start with very high insulin levels. This is what causes the insulin resistance. Then insulin goes even higher to counteract the resistance and creates even more resistance. A vicious cycle indeed. It is in the later stages of type 2 that the pancreas wears out and can no...

    How were you told?

I went to the doctor at age 37 because my cycles had stopped. Not pregnant so did hormone tests. When I went for results I got "You are in full menopause and by the way you are diabetic" Needless to say that was a very bad day.

    Metformin and stomach

They can cause digestive problems for some people and not for others. If you have problems tell your doctor and see if you can try extended release metformin. Some people cannot tolerate it in any form.

My personal hypothesis - T2 - Low insulin Diet

I also lost consistently for about 10 days and then stalled. I have been the same for 5 days. I am very interested to know how things go for you for the next couple days.
