    Chips - My One Downfall

This is the one thing that I can't get past - chips with nearly every evening meal. Boiled potatoes, rice, pasta, mash... All a bit rubbish. Oven chips are OK, so I don't mind using them instead... but I just can't seem to do without my chips. Anyone else have their one thing that they have...

    All puns intended...LOL

My boss shouted to me that the report was outstanding! I said "Thanks. I didn't even know I had done it yet." :D

    A Bar Meal... Oh dear!

Wow... compared to the service that I received, that sounds very shoddy. I was given a 2 to 3 hour appointment with two consultants and specialist nurse, I was given my metre and test strips, loads of information and then followed up with phone calls every day or two.

I'm currently trying out Cradio Trainer on Andriod. Seems very good. Tracks distance, steps, time, calories... Allows you to share to Facebook and save to the servers. I think I'll purchase it when the trial period is over ($9.99).

Not Really Managing with Low Carbing

Thanks Viv. I've got this really bad habit of thinking that I'm doing a lot worse than I really am.

Not Really Managing with Low Carbing

Thanks guys. The dietitian seems happy with the changes that I have made so far. The advice is to keep doing more of the same and add more veg to my main meals.

Not Really Managing with Low Carbing

I have made huge changes in my diet since being diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. I have completely cut out chocolate and all other sweets. Puddings after a meal have been scrapped. I've changed from full cream milk to semi-skimmed. White bread to wholemeal. I make sure that my breakfast cereal...

    How Quickly Things Improve

So, my BG has been between 4 and 7 since Sunday now with only a couple of blips (couple of hypos with a bit over correction - up to around 8.5). The hospital has taken me off of Glimepiride and just left me on Metformin 500mg twice per day now (although they have said that if my BG goes up...

Help - I am so hungry

I was diagnosed T2 two weeks ago today and for the first week was exactly the same. No matter what I ate, I was famished shortly after. Part of this was due to being nervous about what I was eating and seeing my BG raising. Once the medication started to take effect and I've started knowing a...

    Getting Repeat Prescriptions

OK, probably some silly questions here, but believe it or not I have never in my life needed a repeat prescription. I got my prescription from the hospital and handed the letter into the doctor. I presume that I can just contact them for repeats of anything that I need? BG strips, sharp bits...

    Pedometers

Does it matter if it is accurate? I mean, if you use the same inaccurate device one day and register 1,000 steps then use it again the next day and register 2,000 steps, then you can still be fairly sure you have doubled your steps.

Thanks. Didn't realise this. I'm getting mine this afternoon.

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Do you all get the jab because you are diabetic or are you offered it for other reasons? Is this something that I should be thinking about?

If <4 mmol/l but Feeling Fine

Thanks for the info. I was curious as to whether a hypo was only when you feel the symptoms of a hypo or when you drop below four. I guess what confuses me is the fuzzy logic behind it and why 3.9 is such a big deal when 4.0 is not.
