    Is Metformin a slimming drug in disguise?

    The only way I lost any weight using Metformin was because I was permanently on the loo, with stomach problems and diarrhoea :(:(. Even the slow release stuff upsets me if I take more than a 1000mg a day

    Peer Pressure

    Luckily at over 6ft and slightly heavier than I should be, no one ever tries to pressure me into anything, or even makes comments about what I should or shouldn't do .. Sometimes size can really help towards a quiet life :):)

    I would agree, but I dont have a Diabetes team, I do talk to my practice nurse who admits they are not diabetes trained, and just pass things on to the District Diabetes nurse who ever they are who will send a reply, and as it's not an emergency I have to see my own doctor who's next available...

    How long before you started to see any improvement. I'm in the high teens, take 1000mg SR Metformin, and been on Forxiga for a week. Not seen any improvements yet, so just wondering what sort of time frame I should be expecting

Usually I send in a letter with a printout from the meter, the nurse at the surgery then consults with the "district diabetic nurse" and I then get a call from the surgery to tell me there is a prescription waiting for me...

    Metformin

    Taking them back to a pharmacist is the correct way, but not all of them seem to accept them. When I had to return a number of my mothers meds, two chemist refused to take them.
