LCHF Diet on Glaucophage + Gliclazide

I always know when I'm low when I get a shaky hand - its the reason I only take Gliclizade once a day (in the afternoon). If I have it with a low carb meal it pushes me down too low for the next morning (which is when the jelly babies and Lucozade come to the rescue!)

Dry toast and ginger biscuits was the only thing I could manage when I had gastro-enteritis! Hugs to you if you have anything like that!:yuck::yuck::(

A slightly higher than normal of 6.2 today courtesy of too many carbs yesterday and not enough sleep. :***::( Must do better!

    Accu-chek Fastclix,

I've used them a few times without a problem. They do start to get a bit blunt after about 3 times though.

Newly diagnosed Type 2, HbA1c is 101, feeling really concerned.

Mine was 102 at diagnosis! Low carb and portion control is the way to go. Exercise for half an hour a day (ore more if you are able). Brisk walking is easily fit into your life. As everyone else says, buy yourself a monitor. Don't wait for the doctors to think about it - and if you do get...

    My first clinic visit today

Oh the medical professionals could make you cry sometimes! The whole point of testing is to get an accurate position of what your BS level is at the time - okay its a snapshot - but a useful one to make sure you are eating according to your BS. Otherwise how else can you learn what to eat (or...

Confused, but should I be concerned?

I'd say try to cut down on your sugary treats (just for the sake of a healthy diet), but otherwise you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy it and get on with life.

Down to 3.8 today - jelly babies to the rescue! Just shows what a lack of carbs in your meal does to your BS levels.

    Carb wipeout!

The problem is with those packs is that they are very fine oats - basically the finer the oats, the quicker it hits your bloodstream. If you are going to have porridge - go for the rough porridge - it takes longer to go through your digestive system and is therefore slower to alter your BS level.

A very bad 8.2 today - way too much sugar yesterday. Need to behave myself and stop eating what I shouldn't!
