Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

And I thought I was doing well on my low carb diet losing 20 kg (44 lbs) since 23 of June! Congratulations. Blood sugar this morning is 4.8 by the way.

Not quite a hypo but why....

Thanks... I am reasonably familiar with the causes and risks of hypos, having had a good many in the past when on much higher doses of insulin. As I said, I did no exercise this morning. Yesterday (like all days) I did a three mile walk. That normally does not have this effect. My question was...

Not quite a hypo but why....

As I posted elsewhere, I am a Type 2 of long standing (16 years) who went on a LC diet in June and has so far shed 13kg. I was on 36 unites of Lantus and about ten units of Novorapid when I started and two metformin a day. Consultations with the diabetic nurse (who has not objected to my diet)...

NHS advice on low carbohydrate diets

NHS advice on low carbohydrate diets

Thanks to everyone who wrote on this. By way of explanation I should add that all my medical advisers tell me that my problems are largely caused by obesity and losing weight has to be a priority. Thanks..very helpful. I use FatSecret which gives me a pretty good overall idea of how I am doing. And I do weight and record everything strictly. Is Cronometer better?

NHS advice on low carbohydrate diets

Thanks...no only the usual clutch of metabolic disorder-related diseases, which I mentioned, caused by serious obesity. But at a time when GPs are making us cut back on seeing consultants for anything but non-urgent purposes (I was seeinga cardiologist after a diabetes-related heart attack but...

NHS advice on low carbohydrate diets

When the local hospital got to hear that I am losing weight rapidly on a very careful low carbohydrate diet, they rang me up to see how I was getting along and wanted to check that I am getting 'all the nutrients'. I think I am -- green vegetables and about 50g of berries a day, all carefully...

    AgaMatrix Wavesense Jazz Wireless issues

I have exactly the same experience. An aged but faithful Accu Chek gives readings which match my experience and the six monthly tests pretty well. The Wavesense Jazz is up there in the clouds. I just took blood sugar measurements on both. Wavesense says I am 7.2 which would be a little higher...
