    DAFNE course

It was a great success for me, apart from the dawn phenomenon, but injections would never be able to wrestle that under control anyway.... It was such a success that I don't actually go to appointments needing anything from them.....I encourage them to make suggestions from the results they see...

    Novorapid with meals

I would say overnight is the best time as you will have no food or bolus working....so ideal time.....the libre will make basal testing almost effortless...[emoji6]

    Novorapid with meals

You can bolus for snacks in between meals but you need to consider the insulin still on board....you might need 2 units to correct between meals but then you may have 2 units still to go... A lot of the new meters can offer up that calculation for you but it's possible to work it out...

    Novorapid with meals

There will always be peaks but yeah, keeping them down to as low as possible is best....... timing is the key......get the insulin before you eat and see how it works for you....

    ill and sugar levels

Yes, it is...... You could argue your body is working harder to fight off any infection/virus and so your body needs to supply more energy to do that.....also there may be some additional hormones being released which could increase your normal resistance to insulin.... ultimately you may...

Type 1 Blood Glucose Profiles (Curves)

Can you try a carb free approach, that's what I was saying.....its likely that would be difficult too.....

    Novorapid with meals

I was never really told either until DAFNE but even then it wasn't touched on as an important point..... its all about how you understand the action of the insulin.....you want the insulin to start working fully as the digestion of your meal begins, which for most, is almost immediately....you...

    Absorption rates

For me personally the effect of different sites is negligible, however that might not be the case for others.... as usual you would look to get a few days readings under your belt to work out if it is the location or something else...

    Novorapid with meals

should be before eating ideally.......its takes about 10 minutes, but can vary per individual.....you can also manipulate that 'lead in' time to better suits certain meals...

Type 1 Blood Glucose Profiles (Curves)

at 8 months, what is he eating........basal testing will be hard I would imagine.........any chance of carb free meals in stead of fasting....? you can work out a typical total basal dose with a calculation.......mass[pounds]/4 = total daily dose, then half to get basal...... its rough...

    DAFNE course

Done mine, in South Lanarkshire, back in 2009...... Because I was coming from a mixed, twice a day regime, it was life changing really.... If you do the course after being on here for a while you wont feel a huge benefit likely, especially if you have established ratios and correction factors...

    My dad (again)

Has he been shown how to count carbs and turn it into an insulin dose?

Do things get worse before they get better?

My understanding is that the less carbs you eat of a day will subsequently reduce the amount of glucose which is sent to the liver stores.....so in theory yes.....it should settle down......I don't know how long it takes though.....as I personally don't follow low carb....therefore I still...

    My dad (again)

If I was there now I would try and explain to him how the basal/bolus insulin's actually work..... you always need your basal......and if you eat carbs, you need the bolus......and confirm also that if he is just eating salads, then yeah, no bolus needed, build on that point.... must be hard...

    Infection and bloods raised

Infections can cause BG increase for definite........ And I suppose hormonal changes can too........whether its menopause or any other imbalance..... Fortunately though it sounds like although your levels are raised, they aren't dangerously high.... Is your diabetes changing, well...
