Is red lentil pasta better than whole wheat?

The only "low" carb pasta I have ever found was edamame: https://www.explorecuisine.com/en/buy-it-now/edamame-spaghetti.html Costco used to sell it here (Canada), but stopped (BOO!!). Other than that, I am yet to find anything even remotely close. Open to suggestions!

Vegan diet no longer control my Glucose level

Top of my head....if you look at some like this: https://www.drfuhrman.com I think it provides some idea....virtually no ADDED fats looking at his recipes, though some of the foods do have some natural ones. I'll go see what I else I can dig up...I've seen quite a few others but have passed...

Vegan diet no longer control my Glucose level

Everything I have read so far about being vegetarian / vegan and diets to reduce insulin resistance etc, also requires a complete removal of fat from the diet as well - and I mean almost down to 0. There are numerous sites, articles and social media content out there on the subject, but it...

Type 2 The fat in LCHF

A quick search finds these (some are USA articles, where they use more CORN feed, as opposed to Canada where we use GRAIN (wheat) typically, but the end results are similar. I actually probably mis-lead as well (and learned a bit too). The grass fed and grain fed can have SIMILAR levels of...

Type 2 The fat in LCHF

Some of the "bad fat" confusion, at least here in Canada, comes from the problem that most "meat" animals are fattened up using grains (wheat), so the fat content is much higher is Omega 6 (inflammatory) fats compared to the amount of "healthy" fats (Omega 3s) that are found in higher amounts in...

    Peperami...

Personally I also look for versions of "processed" or cured meats that have as few ingredients/chemicals as possible. Products vary greatly. I love cured meats, but I do truly believe that as low carb as many of them are, the processing/curing does make their health impact a little concerning...

    Dawn phenomenon

I was having issues with dawn phenomenon and just recently (and I don't even know what it really means yet) just "fixed" it (temporarily anyways) after doing a 3-4 day fast. For the longest time, I would wake up with 5.9 - 6.5 readings (while on LC). I was also having issues dropping below 200...

    liver dump

Just to follow up....woke up to a 4.8 this morning!! I kinda pigged out last night for dinner as well....two low carb beers (Michelob Ultra) roasted chicken wings then re-fried with hot sauce/white vinegar/a touch of BBQ sauce (that has some sugar), huge spinach salad with mushrooms and lots...

    liver dump

In the past year, I almost always wake to 5.8 - 6.0....every single morning. I stay pretty LCHF etc and this will just not drop at waking..though I can get much consistently lower during the day. Last week, wife was away so I thought the perfect opportunity to try some multi-day...

Rapeseed Oil ... friend or foe?

I don't touch it....hard to say how much of this type of analysis is really valid, but since I have so many other options, I just don't buy it. I use lard, avocado oil, butter, olive oil, goose fat etc. https://blog.bulletproof.com/what-is-canola-oil/

    5 day fasting experiment

Just ran across this thread with great interest. I am going to do a 5 day fast here shortly for a couple reasons....trying to break a plateau being one and not being able to get under 91kg. Also, my wife is away so being home alone will make it much, much easier without having to cook for...

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

Hello all, After seeing a significant range of readings, I am just wondering WHAT I really should be aiming for? I am often around 5.8. So, is that GOOD? Is that just OK. I see some poeple happy with that, and other not. I see references to "diabetic" goals, but not sure what is considered OK.

    Cold feet and hands

When I diet or simply reduce my calorie intake, I get cold hands/feet as a first sign I'm losing weight - I get a direct correlation.

Newly diagnosed on Friday, little to no info from Doctor, is that normal?

The other thing you may note is that when you go to the diabetic information course, it is highly likely to be the traditional curriculum based on information many here go directly against. I am in Canada and pre-diabetic, and the first thing my doctor said here and the information at the...

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

Why do you say that 95 is disappointing? I'd be happy with that...I am rarely below 100.

Does LCHF make you more sensitive to carbs?

Thanks for the replies. I'll do some more researching on this. Interestingly, I went on a nice brisk noon-hour walk (about 35 minutes long) right after posting at around 12:30, and in the last 5 minutes started to feel a bit weak/sweaty. Got back in and immediately took my glucose reading -...

Does LCHF make you more sensitive to carbs?

Hey all, Just a question regarding LCHF and how it "changes" your system. I still have some more testing to do before formal diagnosis, but am most likely "pre"diabetic. Staying quite LC and my glucose readings stay nice and low as long as I stay LC, but I have noticed (for example this...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thanks for the suggestion! Reading have seemed stable otherwise, but yes, the battery indicator is on the low end so perhaps I'll swap it out.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

First post here because it was just an interesting morning. Woke up showered etc and tested. 6.9 ***!!! (Last few days were lower 5s). Test again - 4.9, and tested again at 5.4 All within 1 minute.

    Diebetes gone??

Sounds like maybe your dodged a bullet, but if it were me...I would not be returning to a sugar-eating lifestyle. Who knows really...perhaps your first diagnosis was wrong? Perhaps your new one is wrong? Perhaps it is temporary?
