    Freestyle Libre Sensor Error

I had this when I put my current one on - came up when I scanned it for the first time. 10 minutes later it was working as normal and so far (2 days in) it seems to be holding up alright. Have ordered a spare just in case though...

    MySugr App

I've used it for the past few months and find it helpful. I like that you can connect it to your Libre too. I get my next HbA1C in November - will feed back on how accurate it is. But bear in mind it's only an average of the figures you enter - you might be missing spikes or lows you're not...

    Skipping breakfast?

I drink coffee with cream in the morning and I find that makes me feel full. Sometimes I skip it altogether but I generally don't find I'm hungry then until lunchtime. It might just be a case of training your body not to expect food that early in the morning

Type 2 Type 2 and hypos

Thanks all! Next time I get a low result I'll finger test to check it. Doesn't sound like I have anything to worry about :)

Type 2 Type 2 and hypos

As a T2D on diet treatment only - am I at risk of hypos? I only ask as sometimes my overnight Libre readings are quite low (sub 4.0 at times) though I've never felt any ill effects from it. Far as I understood I'm not at risk, but seeing that red line does make me a little concerned! Ta!

    Flu Jab

I got mine for free this week. Took about 10 seconds but my arm started to ache about two days later for a little while.

    How does it work.

If you got 15 after one hour, for me (a diabetic) I would probably have eaten something sugary or high in carbohydrate. If I were non-diabetic and got those numbers I would probably go to my GP to get a test to see if I had diabetes - 15 is very high and most people would not go above 7.8...

    Libre sensors

You can also get free shipping using a monthly code (not sure what the October one is but I expect someone on here will have it) which reduces the cost into the £40s per sensor

    How does it work.

My understanding is that a normal non-diabetic reaction to anything should be below 7.8 as the body manages to get release enough insulin to safely tuck away the excess glucose - however I don't believe there have been many studies done on this. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's spike levels...

    Keto Homemade wraps and bread

I also tried and failed at making edible keto wraps! In the end I found that the Carbzone low carb tortillas barely touched my blood sugar at all, so I've been using them instead. They aren't the cheapest but you can buy about 16 for £6 on Amazon.

    Libre on high-altitude flight

Brilliant, thanks all! Had no idea about the pressurisation thing, so that makes it a lot simpler :)

    Chocolate

Hi Cocobee! I find that on 'good' days I can handle small amounts of sweet things (though to be honest I've lost my taste for them). Bread and pasta send me sky high unfortunately, but it's nice to know every once in a while I can indulge. Very dark chocolate (85%+) doesn't spike me much at all...

Prof Roy Taylor's work on reversing type 2 diabetes

I would imagine on 800 calories a day you'd be in the 'starvation' range below:

    Type 2 Life

Busy day today! Had a flu jab in the morning, busy work day and then blood donation in the evening Came home to find that we are in the midst of a minor invasion of carpet beetle larvae (I presume). Spent the rest of the evening pulling up furniture, bleaching the floor and putting ant powder...

Type 2 Newcastle Diet and Fatty Liver

In many ways the ND is the ideal route to take if you have fatty liver, as it seems to remove visceral fat from the liver first, and then the pancreas. It's definitely safe to do it - however as people have mentioned there are general things to consider. Gallstones have been a problem for some...

    Newcastle diet.

It's a pretty hardcore diet. I don't think you'd find many medical professionals willing to endorse an 800 calorie a day diet! It's also not very well known. My GP didn't know what I was talking about until I described it, and then she had sort of heard of it, but not in great detail. It's a...

One week in where should I be?

I know exactly what you mean. Although I had a very unhealthy lifestyle, getting the diagnosis has motivated me to make a difference and I'm already seeing the health benefits. I'd also echo what other people are saying about not downplaying the effects of diet - my postprandials were averaging...

    Libre on high-altitude flight

Good advice! I used to do a lot of long haul flights (lived in China) so I have absolutely no shame in asking for more of everything - I'm paying for it dammit!
