Feeling despondent, not sure what to do.

OK, potted history. T2 over 25 years, on metformin most of that time, other drugs off and on (depending on the state of my diet and weight, basically - I have issues with binge and compulsive eating, I am never going to be thin). Have been happily on Trulicity for 5 years. Last year HbA1C was...

    Trulicity- supply problems/alternatives?

I just thought I’d add an update for anyone who comes after. I spoke with the practice nurse the other day and we agreed that I would continue with just metformin (and low carb and exercise) for now and we will recheck HbA1C in 3 months. She said to keep an eye on my BG and if it goes up too...

    Arrrgghh Low carb not working….

What meds have they got you on? if they don’t make a difference, then I’d second the suggestion to consider other types of diabetes. Many people, including medical professionals, will assume that anyone presenting with diabetes in their 40’s/50’s must be type 2. But you can develop T1 in later...

    Trulicity- supply problems/alternatives?

I’ve been diagnosed with T2 for 26 years. Been on metformin over 20 years and Trulicity for 5 years. Annual review last month and HbA1C had gone from 56 the previous year to 71. No significant change to weight, diet or exercise, but I had been started on a statin the year before. My...

A medication dilemma - seeking your thoughts

I have always been very overweight/obese (I have issues with compulsive/binge eating) and was diagnosed T2 at the age of 34. I am now 60. After a couple of years of adequate control through diet, I was put on metformin, so have been on that more than 20 years. I have lost and regained weight...

Statins, advised to start 20 mg Atorvastatin

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but hopefully some of the knowledgable people on here might be able to comment. I was started on Atorvastatin a year ago, after my last annual review. My cholesterol was 5.3 (although HDL and ratios were good) and my QRisk thing has nudged just over 10%, so...

    Starting again…. again

Went to the gym this morning - fairly short workout just to ease myself back in. Back home eating breakfast soon after 8.30. The Libre sensors arrived about 10am….. the first reading that came up (around 11.20am) was 10.5. I’ve just got back from the shops - 6 minutes walk each way - and now...

    Starting again…. again

Ah yes, good point about the carbs in pulses. Still healthier than sugar and white flour, though. My Libre sensors have been dispatched. I’ll slap one on as soon as they arrive, and see where we go from there. I’ve taken a heck of a lot of carbs out just by cutting back on snacking. It was...

    Starting again…. again

I just had a thought…. I started on a statin just under a year ago, they can increase BG, can’t they?

    Is T2 really fatal???

If someone has multiple chronic health conditions, it is in practical terms very difficult to isolate one or other of them. They probably all contribute to someone’s death to some extent. So doctors put down what they think is closest to the truth - but that, of course, is influenced by their...

    Starting again…. again

OK, very brief history. I was diagnosed with T2 aged 34, I am now 60. I have a long history of weight cycling through alternately strict dieting and binge eating. I no longer “diet” as it presses all the wrong buttons mentally. I periodically have periods of eating better and doing more...

    Intermittent fasting low blood sugar

Interesting..... I just had a mild hypo (3.7 according to my Libre) I am neither low carbing nor IFing, but have stopped binge eating over the past few months. Although I suppose I have been IFing in a sense, because I don’t usually eat breakfast, so that means that most days I have a 6 hour...

    Hypo at 4.6mmol/l

Also possible that you had been lower than that and by the time you tested your body had released glucagon to bring your BG up. Do monitor carefully when adopting low carb while taking sulfonylureas. I had several weeks of daily mild hypos before lunch before the nurse stopped my gliclazide.

    Eyesight

I’m similarly struggling with glasses, having broken my most recent pair in a fall in November, and having poor control at the time. Stuck with my old ones, with are a weaker prescription, although that was suiting me better. According to my optician, high BG makes you less short-sighted, but...

Anyone been on Trulicity 6 months or more?

I’m interested to know how you’ve got on. What has happened to side effects.... appetite.... and weight? Has anyone come off it.... and been able to maintain a lower weight without it? What has happened to your BG.

Eyesight and BG levels (especially changing ones)

My eyes don't feel particularly blurry (though they are dry, and the optician's suggested some drops for that), it's just that my glasses feel like the prescription just isn't right..... and it got worse after the rapid drop in BG caused by the Trulicity. I see the optician again on 17th Jan...

Eyesight and BG levels (especially changing ones)

Quick backstory: T2D for 20 years but also a binge eater, so I have had my ups and downs with control, been on various types and levels of medication depending on how well I was controlling my diet. Discovered low carb 2.5 years ago and did really well for a year - losing 4 stone and having...

Feeling guilty and I’ve let myself down..

I'm not sure that's necessarily to do with being autistic (though I understand that gives you a different perspective on things.) I feel guilty about something 90% of the time too, and I'm not autistic. I fell of the low-carb wagon for a whole 18 months and have suffered the consequences. For...

    Trulicity Injections

A week on, and BG continues to decline slowly, no doubt helped by the reduction in appetite caused by the Trulicity, as well as my own efforts to eat better and exercise more. How big a difference is it making? Well, my HbA1C taken at the end of November was 83 or 86 ( can’t quite remember, I...

    Trulicity Injections

So far so good.... 14 hours and a good night’s sleep on - no side effects worth mentioning (I keep on asking myself if that is a little bit of nausea, or a little stomach pain, but if it is, it’s very mild and temporary). BG this morning of 9.8 - the first time I’ve seen single digits in months...
