    A Month Into Low Carbing

Hi mehhh, yes, I've certainly learned a lot from the lovely folks on here. I did try the slow release metformin but it still made me feel uncomfortable but to be honest I don't think I gave it long enough for my body to adjust. It wasn't til they changed me to Gliclazide and gave me a...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Yeeeha! Down 2lbs this morning to 11st 12lbs so out of the dreaded 12s. :D Been a long time since I've seen 11 anything on my scales so I'm well pleased. And my average BS readings for the last 2 weeks have been 6.4 so I think I'm making progress, thanks to all your advice and support xxx

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Yes, they gave me a meter with the Gliclazide that I never took. Problem is it's a Verio One Touch and they only give me 50 strips a month and they're expensive to buy so I may have to get the Code Free one. I'm quite happy on 2 meals a day too so definitely not going to keep forcing stuff...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Aaah thank you for that - makes it a lot clearer and the average of 9+ was a bit of a shock as I was reading it as 7.4. Carry on low carbing and I'm reducing the amount of fat too until the weight starts to shift.

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Well I'm back with print outs of my old blood tests but I need a bit of help to understand them please. It seems I've only had 2 print outs, one in July 2014 which says: The WHO suggests HBA1c>=6.5% (48mmol/mol) is consistent with diabetes HBA1c - Above range 7.3% [2.0-6.5] Above high...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement - it is appreciated and I did think that those with a lot to lose would lose it faster but still expected a wee bit more for all that self-denial. I'm just off to the doctor's for a print out of my last diabetic blood test, so that I too can have...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Thank you x I can honestly say that I haven't had a single cheat (where's my halo?) not even one chip off the other half's plate. If I've had anything naughty it has been accidentally (as in I wasn't sure about the Rice Cake but that was a one off).

    A Month Into Low Carbing

@AndBreathe and @Gezzabelle and @britishpub Yes definitely food for thought (excuse the pun). I think you may have figured out why I'm not getting the weight loss I expected. It's a bit of a relief to know that I don't have to keep adding fat to be honest. I have found that some foods have...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Thanks Jo, I definitely think I may have been overdoing the high fat bit and felt compelled to add a knob of butter to things I'd never dream of putting it on so definitely going to rein it in now and see if the weight drops off. Fingers crossed.

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Oh that's interesting as I do find the high fat element harder than the low carb bit. I've never been a great fan of fatty food, not for health reasons but because I just don't like things like the fat on a loin chop or bacon or loads of butter on bread but because of the things I've read I...

First self test - too good to be true

Hi Geoffers. Well done on what you've achieved so far x May I ask if you are still taking the Metformin as well as doing the LC diet? As you can see from my signature, it made me feel so bad that I stopped taking it and went on the LC/HF diet instead but I've still not seen figures like yours...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Hi Mongolia x Thank you x It is encouraging to see the BS coming down and I know I will just have to stick at it and not get so impatient. I don't have much of an appetite in the mornings but was forcing myself to have 3 meals a day as I thought this was necessary for success but I'm slipping...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Hi Bluetit. Thank you x I think water is a bit of a problem as I hate the stuff but I'm certainly drinking more than I used to but probably not as much as I should. Good idea to ring the surgery for my blood test print outs. Not sure how obliging they'll be but no harm in asking. I don't...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Hi Satindoll x That sounds like a good idea. I have dug out my air walker thingy and am trying to do that when I can but can't keep it up too long.

    A Month Into Low Carbing

Hi Gezzabelle x Thank you, yes I do feel impatient to see the weight drop a bit quicker as I don't think I could lower my carb intake any further than I have already. If I'd had this much willpower on a normal diet I think I would have lost more so I assume it's the HF that is preventing it...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

So ... I know it's still early days but although my BS is now averaging the 6s as opposed to the 8-11s when I was first diagnosed I don't seem to be having the important weight loss like others have reported. I was really pleased with my reduced BS and saw that as a positive sign that my next...
