    mashed cauli

Someone recommended (in a recipe) putting it in a thin cloth or muslin and squeezing all the water out. I'm sure any of these options mentioned above would be fine though.

    Reversing side-effects

Sorry nosher but disagree. As has been said, it depends what you put in them and I'm sure there's plenty of low carb things that can be made into smoothies. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Am I missing something?

    Reversing side-effects

I think a Nutribullet would be helpful too. I never fancy breakfast really but I'm sure I could manage a nice healthy juice. It's on my wish list.

    New Here and Very Frightened

hi @Stitch626 Don't be scared. It isn't that bad. x I went into denial at first and did nothing about it for ages until I found this forum and saw how others were coping and reversing it in some cases. The fact that you've not been put straight on meds and advised diet and exercise means...

ADA urges clinicians not to use the word diabetic to describe people with diabetes, among...

In the words of Shakespeare "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" and by that token a PWD or a Diabetic would still have the wretched condition however they choose to describe them. We want a cure not political correctness. Save your time and effort for what is really important.

    What's the deal with spikes?

Thank you everyone that replied. xx You are all very reassuring and I think I worry a bit too much. I got through Christmas without any major spikes so was pleased with that. I guess as I'm not on meds I'm not doing too badly in the greater scheme of things and, as I have a chronic back...

    What's the deal with spikes?

Thanks x Glad you see it that way. No, not really, unless I've tried something to see if I can have it without spiking and I usually can't ..lol. But my fasting (early morning) ones are rarely below high 5/6s and today was 7.3 and others on the low carb diet seem to get 4-5s. I know I...

    What's the deal with spikes?

I've been doing strict lc/hf since July 2015 and I've tested and tested to see what spikes and I still can't get below the 6s even though I have lost over 2 stone in weight (which now seems to have stuck at 10st5) And things that I am OK with sometimes will spike at others. It's all a...

    What's the deal with spikes?

That's a good question that I was wondering about too. eg. if I eat something that spikes me and I get a reading of, say 11, I find that 2 or 3 hours later I drop quite low for me i.e. 4.2 (usually I'm in the 6s) and my monitor tells me that my average is still in the 6s because the low has...

Hi from a newbie with Pancreas Probs & Diabetes

So sorry @thearcher and @mrspuddleduck. I should have noticed it was in a different, more relevant section but I didn't and I humbly apologise xx

type 2 diabetes and I don't take medication

What is your strategy for controlling your diabetes without meds? Some of us are doing low carb/high fat diets or various others. What some people can eat without raising their BS, others can't. We have to learn by testing before eating and then 1 and 2 hours after to give us some idea of...

Hi from a newbie with Pancreas Probs & Diabetes

Hi, I'm sure I replied to your first post and you got some helpful responses on there so might I politely suggest that as this one seems to be very similar, it would be better to add it to your previous post to save people repeating the same advice as previously given and keep everything in the...

    Yet another newly diagnosed

Just want to welcome you to the forum where you will certainly pick up some good info. I've no experience with insulin as I am trying to control my T2 with low carb diet. @daisy1 will give you a list that might help you understand more about diabetes and what you can do. Very best wishes x

    Damaged by statin

I was put on statins about 15 years ago when my son suffered a fatal heart attack and we were all tested and my cholesterol was deemed to be too high. I didn't notice any major side effects except that I have had chronic back pain for about the same length of time but as the MRI diagnosed...

    Type 2 cruel santa lol

Hi @monkeygirl Have you got anyone with you who can spot if you are in danger of too low BS (hypo) as somebody needs to be there if, heaven forbid, you should go unconscious :( Agree with noblehead I do think you need to seek help/advice from a professional. Those figures are dangerously low...

How do we have a low carb Christmas?

Well as I started this thread I will report back (although I think I said all this on the "What have you eaten" thread) and say that I found it really easy. I just didn't buy sweets, cake, biscuits or anything off limits as we didn't have anyone else to cater for. My only indulgence was 2...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

B: Did bacon sarnies for o/h and guest. Then a "quick" phone call to sis-i-l turned into nearly 2 hours so no time for me to eat. L: Turkey, 2 small roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, brussels with bacon, cauliflower, tiny portion of stuffing, gravy. Couple of hours later BS: 8.0 Small portion...

How do we have a low carb Christmas?

I don't think you have upset anyone @pensionistamike I think others have just stated what it would do to them really but I would think if you had the same menu last year and didn't suffer a carb hangover enough to put you off ever doing it again then you can go for it and enjoy it xx

What do we love/hate/like about this festive time ..

Nice idea Kat but unfortunately that's not the way it works. I think most shops depend on the Christmas rush to boost their sometimes flagging yearly profits. The sales are only to off-load the stuff that they don't want to be left with after.
