A knock me down with a feather moment at GP surgery

@graj0, phone the consultant's secretary and explain your symptons and ask how soon they can fit you in. My mum had some very ominous symptons and was waiting ages for a investigative procedure, I phoned the secretary and got her in the next week. I was extremely charming. If she hadn't had...

    Really pleased for my husband!

Thank you for your positive comments, he is doing well! He is using an Accucheck Aviva at the moment as that is what I use. However I am looking at the Codefree and it is a lot cheaper, I will buy once we have used up our existing strips.

    Forum support for alternative diets

I have to say when I first joined this forum as a prediabetic I managed to achieve normal bg levels by low carbing. I tested lots and found that it was carbs, some more than others which raised my bg too high. I would rather eat a few carbs and on the forum I asked someone who deals with their...

Lots of symptoms, Doctor Never clued in

It must be frustrating, but to be honest I would not worry about taking metformin, I am pre diabetic and would have been quite happy to take it if prescribed. But surely you know the way forward is to lose weight, who knows if you will reverse your diabetes but if you are only just in diabetic...

Low Carb causing constipation.. Is senna ok to take?

Loads of salads and nuts and green veg, plenty of water, tea or coffee keep me regular! When I am away from home and can't eat the quantity of veg I take psyllium husk tablets 2, 3 times a day. They do the trick.

Oh Jenny, so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, that must be so hard when you have looked after him all your life. Please come back and tell us you have visited your GP. Low carb food and diet on a low budget

I agree with uart, as I eat the perceived healthy diet, lots of pulses, wholemeal pasta, bread etc., and I always kept slim by not eating too much, I find eating low carb much more expensive. My bad cholesterol and trigs went up with low carbing, so I go for the very lowest carb and only try...

    Eat well

I wish I could follow those guidelines, I mostly did and ended up a slim pre diabetic, I love pulses but sadly when I tested food regularly at the beginning pulses sent my blood sugar higher than other carbs. I really miss lentil soup, chick pea curry, etc.

Newly diagnosed, blurry vision since rapid bg drop.

I would be on to my gp first thing Monday morning about my blurred vision, I wouldn't be happy speaking to the nurse. Sorry if this worries you but better to be safe than sorry.
