I'm taking 2 metaphase 500 a day and my levels are pretty ok most of the time a 7 or 8 but I'm extremely tired all the time it's getting to the stage where I'm getting depressed over it is this normal or will it get better I have zero energy

I was only pre diabetic but I was tired all the time, amongst other symptoms. I found low carb reduced my blood sugar b and stopped my Constant tiredness.

Changing your diet and improving your blood glucose control could help... and/or there might be another medical condition involved. Have you told your doctor about the tiredness?

The tablet you mentioned appears to be a herbal supplement! Your blood sugars are actually quite high so that could account for your tiredness ,so Drs appointment would be a good thing I would have thought plus you could be anaemic, basically who knows as we can't diagnose. :)

I was diagnosed with T2 in May, so am in the early stages of making diet and exercise changes. I also have tiredness problems. As well as feeling quite suddenly wiped out at some points of the day, some days the exercise (just walking) feels like ploughing through treacle. The nurse at my GP's plans to test thyroid levels in the next round of blood tests. I'm still waiting for a meter, so can't yet test to really check whether the tiredness correlates with glucose levels.

I was hit with tiredness this afternoon - didn't go on the walk as planned - and it made me think about what the cause(s) might be because of this discussion.

Have you thought about dehydration? http://www.diabetes.co.uk/dehydration-and-diabetes.html

I'm terrible about drinking - I was bought up in a family which wasn't one of those where people were always having cups of tea, or even glasses of water! Now I'm paying attention to it, I realise just how little I do drink.

Today I had 2 brown bread toast and bowl porridge now I'm having boiled potatoes and veg I don't really eat that much
That's an awful lot of starchy carbs, perhaps look at something else to replace them.

To add to the problem I'm asthmatic and have a chest infection at the minute so the steroids will play havoc with the levels I'd say levels 11.3 at the moment I try drinking more water thanks for the replies

Hopefully you will find out what it is very soon, fingers crossed for you. Do you like salads and fish? as they are two of my favourites, but tonight I am making chilli. I also love cheese, yogurts, raspberries and blackberries, well lots of different foods, I try to keep a good balance for my needs and likes.
Good luck.

Sorry to hear you have a chest infection, that in it's self can put levels up. What about some soup, could you manage that, maybe when you are feeling a bit better you could make a batch and freeze individual portions ?
All the best.

Bingo. Tiredness is a symptom of a chest infection. You will probably still feel tired from it for a few weeks afterwards too.

If you still feel tired after replacing some of your carbs with protein and non starchy veges, getting your blood glucose levels down, and it being about 6 weeks after your chest infection is cleared, then tell your doctor about it and they will probably get some blood tests.
