I think I'm stumped for a low carb sub (haggis)

The verdict. It was lovely and I'm pleased but it didn't really taste like haggis. It was the perfect texture but it tasted like what it was-sausage and black pudding. Next time I need to make it a bit ?spicier? Suggestions welcome. I enjoyed it with some halloumi fries and a handful of...

    Question about test strip containers

I peel the labels and donate them (with other random things like yogurt pots ) to a local nursery school for their craft area. A staff member told me they use them for small amounts of PVA glue for individual children and they are super grateful. Apparently they haven't had anything like it...

    Sugar checks

Sorry @catherine J .I should have said this in my original response, The reason many/most of us test is because (whether on metformin or not) we are trying to improve our blood glucose readings ( and thus improve our diabetes) through diet (generally through adopting a low carbohydrate diet)...

    Sugar checks

Hi @catherine J and welcome aboard. I'm also in Scotland and was diagnosed in August so we'll be learning together. I was very fortunate to find this site the weekend following diagnosis and have moved forward with lots of the advice and information here. I told my nurse I was testing with a...

    Type 2 Chewing Gum

Hi @Geologist1942 It all depends how much you chew and how much you restrict your carbs. Most chewing gum ( even sugar free) has 1 or 2 carbs per piece. An odd piece does no harm but if (like me before I realised) you can get through two or three packs a day it can mount up.

I think I'm stumped for a low carb sub (haggis)

I haven't tasted it yet but so far so good on the keto haggis for Burns day. Roll on Thursday.

UK equivalent of breakfast sausage ??

Thank you all. As it happens I had a pack of the heck sausages because I needed one for my pretend haggis (its looking good I'll put a pic on my haggis thread)so I know its quite straight forward to split one with a knife. I think I'm going to go with the seasoned pork mince for the sausage...

UK equivalent of breakfast sausage ??

You have all been really supportive in my journey from being a non cook to a keto cook but once again I find myself stumped. Whatever I cook has to be easy and appealling to the three men (almost men) in my house. Think American diner type food and you're there. I found this for keto sausage...

I find myself obsessing a bit about the fruit I don't eat

I nodded my head up and down the whole way through this post @Resurgam and can absolutely see it as a future plan. The danger for me is if I treat carbs the way I used to treat weight watcher points or slimming world syns they will all be gone by lunchtime and I will be ravenous by 6pm. This is...

I find myself obsessing a bit about the fruit I don't eat

This is worth thinking about @LivingLightly because it happens most early in the morning. I thought it was because I used to have fruit for breakfast but its worth trying a big drink.

I find myself obsessing a bit about the fruit I don't eat

Thanks for this thought @MrsA2 and the great links. My DN kindly gave me 4 months between HBa1c rather than three to let my body get over all the crazy numbers around my knee replacement. Last time I dropped from 54 to 44 so I'm determined to do even better in March and now is not the time to...

    Low Carb soft foods

Hi @fiona35 What about a low carb version of porridge? I make mine with chia seeds, flaxseed and almond milk. Dark chocolate melted in cream makes a pud. Does mince count as a soft diet?(I genuinely don't know but in my head there is more chewing in white bread than mince) Lots of options for...

I find myself obsessing a bit about the fruit I don't eat

I'm really happy and sated with my low carb diet. Its a creamy, buttery dream. I just had flaxseed/chia porridge for breakfast and intend low carb toast and bacon for lunch. Recently I find myself craving juicy fruit. It started on Christmas day when I watched my family enjoy fresh orange with...

    Variety?

Not sure about Scotland @aylalake but its certainly in England. I sometimes see people posting on another site about bargains they have picked up. I think I've seen local ones but I'm not sure. If you scroll to the bottom of @JoKalsbeek UK link the partners include places like Greggs and...
