    Ramipril >>> Blood pressure

I use Rampiril 10mg and Amlodipine 10mg for my BP. The Rampril also helps protect my Kidneys, I have Stage 4 CKD and it is important that I keep my BP below 130/70, before I stared treatment it was 210/140!! I think the Amlodipine is more effective at lowering BP Lorna

    Discrimination

If they have a medical room then it may be part of their Health and Safety policy that you have to use it for injecting, testing etc? I work in a small office and test at my desk I also inject my Humulin S at my desk but now that I am injecting Levemir 3 times daily I use the board room to do...

    Morning Highs

I kept getting morning highs. At first it was thought that my blood sugar was dropping and my liver dumping but after doing some tests through the night I realised that that was not the case. After a suggestion from "Alaska" I have started splitting my Levemir in to 3 equal doses 8 hours...

    Low Carb - High Protein?

Thanks "Borofergie", I will have to have a look in to it and try to find a low carb diet that will suit me. Me renal consultant has not pout me on a restricted diet as such, he just recommends that I watch my protein and potassium intake. The really restrictive diet for kidney patients is for...

    Low Carb - High Protein?

Does a low carb diet have to be high protein? I am a type 1 and desperate to lose weight, a LOT, I like the idea of a low carb/less insulin diet but I have Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease so have to watch my protein intake, can I do low carb and low protein? Lorna

    diabetes kidney damage

I have had Stage 4 CKD for 6 years and have managed to keep it stable. My lowest count was 18% and my last one was 22%, down from the previous 26%. I am hoping my next blood test will see it over 25%. I see my renal consultant twice a year and keep a very close watch on my blood pressure...

Would you prefer to be on insulin injections or on a pump?

Re: Would you prefer to be on insulin injections or on a pum I would love to be on a pump. My levels are all over the place at the moment and I have a stack of weight to lose. I can't take metoformin to help with insulin resistance as my kidney function is below 30%. I only see a DN at my...

    Injection sites

After reading an article on Diabetesuk I have, in the last week, started injecting my Levemir in my leg rather than my stomach. Do you think this could be contributing to my overnight highs? Lorna

    Disappointing Results

So today I am going to start taking my Levemir over 3 doses, as suggested by Ed. Last night before bed my BG was 6.8 then at 3am it was 13.5! I knew as soon as I woke it was going to be a high number. I took 10 units of Humulin S to bring it down and then when I got up at 6:30 my bg was 10.2...

    Disappointing Results

Re: Dissapointing Results I would love to have a pump! Nor sure if I meet the criteria though. I don't see a consultant at the hospital just a DN at my GP's. This is something I am trying to change but am having difficulty getting her to refer me. My renal consultant thinks i should be seen...
