What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

First time I've been called a pricker and laughed. Guess I know my rightful place now. Lol

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

A very disappointing fbg of 9.0 today. I'm hoping it's because I had a large evening meal last night with a big roast parsnip (I forgot it had carbs - stupid) and a small stuffing ball... And the biggest stupidity? I forgot non-alcoholic wine contains carbs and sugar. Not bad for someone who...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Fbg of 7.7 today so a virtually carb free brekky of vegan sausage, bacon, mushrooms and tomato today. Hoping that will help bring my BGs down a bit SUPPLEMENTARY Post brekky and BGs were 7.8 so not too shabby. Going to leave it a while now and have a later lunch - that should help too

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Oh my wife and I "cheat" like mad with Scrabble. We play "Mummy Rules" that dates back to when our kids were little. So you can swap letters with each other, shuffle letters around the board until you can go and at the end pour the last few letters out and jointly creates words until all the...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Fbg of 7.5 today and rather pleased as I allowed myself a small slice of my wife's incredible Christmas cake. Exercise and restraint back on the table

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Greetings chums and chumettes. Gained 1lb this week so not too disheartened as most Christmases it would be a whopping 7lb extra. Back to the diet next week so I'll have that off in no time. Hope everyone is spiffingly well today and enjoying the festivities. Games of Scrabble with my wife this...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. An fbg of 7. 6 for me today. Off to the hospital today to have what I refer to as "having my ears hoovered". I suffer with a regular chronic build up of ear wax in one ear so today they are going to remove it

    Cauliflower kugel

For all my fellow Jewish diabetics here's a lower carb kugel I came across. It's not the same but it is a decent enough substitute 1 large white onion, finely chopped 1 medium cauliflower (approx. 750-850g) 5 large eggs ½ tsp black pepper 1 ½ tsp sea salt ½ tsp paprika ⅔ cup + 2 Tbsp olive oil...

    Boxing Day

I'm not sure such a thing exists. Fortunately I found some corn thins. They are still high carb but don't appear to spike my BGs if I keep it down to 2 a day

    Boxing Day

Yup, sounds like the joys of diabetes - the condition that keeps confusing us

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning peeps and hope you are having a wondrous time. My fbg today came in at 66.4 - this is despite a couple of naughties yesterday evening, so. I'm happy. Bit sad though as my son is heading home - our Christmas with him seemed far too short. Still, I should be grateful as it was huge fun...

    Boxing Day

Good to hear you've "behaved" too. I'm in the UK and in our family festivities started days ago at the start of Hanukkah and will go on until New Years Day. By and large I don't miss the fancy foods, but I do have to restrain myself with the mince pies - especially as I'm aiming to lose 28lb

    Feel terrible

I think the first thing to recognise is you can't change the past but you can change the future. The second is... So you made a mistake... Big deal because you aren't a bad person. The next thing is work out a plan as to how you can claw your way back. First suggestion is cut the drink and...

    Boxing Day

Just a thought. All in all the forum has been fairly quiet over yhe last couple of days and I know there are a few recently diagnosed members. I hope you are all doing well and coping with the festivities. How is everybody doing? For my part its been a nice relaxing time surrounded by my...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

A rather desappointing 7.3 this morning. I know I had one or two naughties throughout yesterday but before bed last night I did a 20 min brisk walk and my BGs were 6.1 and despite the "treats" I had kept the figures in the sixes all day. F I guess my body is telling me this is the price of my...

Xmas day - how do you do yours ?

Delighted to report that my post Christmas dinner (2 hours after) following a 20 min brisk walk was only 6.1. I've been very restrained and I'm absolutely delighted

Xmas day - how do you do yours ?

A very enjoyable day with a rare treat of having my middle son visiting us. Food wise I've kept everything in moderation, so my pre lunch buffet produced a BG of 6.3 and before our main Xmas dinner it was still only 6.6. Ive avoided chocolate largely but I did have a mince pie earlier. Dinner...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all and Merry Christmas. A 7.7 for me this morning which isn't too surprising given that I had a glass of non-alcohol wine yesterday evening.

    Diagnosed - advice welcomed

At the beginning of December my fbg was averaging 14.0 and I had an Hba1c of 101. Today my fbg was 6.7 and my average A1c (according to MySugr app) is coming out at about 53. I also lost 8lbs in a bit over 2 weeks. I did all this on diet. Now I'm not a medic so I can not advise, all I can say is...
