Blood glucose vs fructose ( testing at home).

@Paul_ while I agree that fructose has less effect than glucose immediately, I have seen it suggested that it's effect can be worse than glucose in the longer term - which is why Dr Gary Fettke goes by the handle @FrutoseNo on Twitter.

What will happen is a type 1 child eats no carbs at all?

'Supposed to do'? - Have you actually been reading the success posts in this forum and the advice to Newbies? Don't you realise that neither Type 1's nor Type 2's are healthy if they just do 'what they are supposed to do'! All different types of diabetics are healthiest if they do what they...

    Questions about BG maybe stupid

How many carbs in each? There will certainly be more sugars in the cereal bar than in the Pasta. If the pasta is not fresh made, but made, cooled and kept overnight in fridge before being re-heated it will have a much lover BG effect than if it were consumed freshly made.

    Questions about BG maybe stupid

Because non -diabetics spend almost all of the time below 8 and remission for a Type 2 diabetic is to use diet & exercise (lifestyle) in order to mimic the BG of a non-diabetic!

Quick reduction of hba1c and risk of dementia

I have not read the study, but from @Oldvatr 's comments it appears to be about insulin use and thus will include hypos.

    Hello and Thank You

To be fair, many of those PHC channel subscribers may be international, since it is widely active in the low carb community on Twitter. However - 28.5K is a good number - just not big enough (yet) to make a breakthrough.

    Hello and Thank You

@Paul_ I feel that your current approach is quite sensible though a little stricter than mine, since I range from 20gms of carbs per day to 40gms with the vast majority of days being 30-40 gms. This Type 2 diabetes thing is very individual and so the details of what works for one person may...

Quick reduction of hba1c and risk of dementia

He has disappeared from the 'blue' forum too I don't know if he was banned there as well as here. His Tweets are hardly ever about Diabetes these days, and are what I consider extreme.

    Diagnosed - advice welcomed

Yes, that's basically no BG rise at all from your dinner. Isn't that great (though with good low carb food like that I would have been mazed if it had shown much of a rise. Now all you need is a few sleeps (with no food overnight) and those numbers will start to drop provided you don't...

Type 2 From remission to needing meds

Cordials can vary a lot, so don't assume that they are all OK. Don't pay any attention to the 'Traffic lights'. They make no sense for Type 2 diabetic. They consider salt to be bad for us, but on a Low carb diet you are almost certainly eating fewer Ready Meals - which means eating a lot less...

    Diagnosed - advice welcomed

@Cluuur Fasting BG numbers are the last one to normalise when using diet (either Low Carb or Utra Low Calorie) to reduce/control diabetes. The reason for this is that Dawn Phenomenon or Foot on the Floor are fairly universal until our livers become used to what are 'normal BG levels, but feel...

3 month hba1c results. So far so good

Well done. We can talk all we want, but unless somebody (you) actually takes notice it has no effect. You are right that the knee op will almost certainly raise the BG numbers - for how long I don't know since I have no experience of BG numbers after an operation. Perhaps another member has such...

    Dawn Phenomenon Impacting HbA1c results

For some, including me when i tested it, having a zero carb meal/snack early in the morning may switch off the Dawn Phenomenon, I found that my BG dropped after eating either eggs or cheese first thing and it didn't go up again until I ate some carbs at lunch. I don't do that now, can't be...

Type 2 From remission to needing meds

Hi @AlanJ72 While I'm a strong believer in avoiding medication if alternatives will do the trick, I also think it wise to take medication if you need it. If the doctors can't cure your long-covid, then it's wise to accept diabetes medication if you need it provided no/tolerable side effects.

For those worried about cholesterol levels..

Tweet by Prof David Diamond: David Diamond @LDLSkeptic In the past several years, editors have been sending manuscripts on diet and heart disease to me as a part of the peer-review process. I've been honored to be seen as an expert worthy of providing input to editors as to whether a...

Freestyle Libre 2 problems - any advice please?

Hi @Type2guy4.9 It's good to know you will answer questions. I'm curious as to how a CGM, even a Libre 3, help you control Type 2 diabetes with exercise and a happy face? From your profile it seems you don't even need to watch what you eat!

    Help deciphering readings

Apples vary considerably in sugars, though they all contain carbs. A medium sized apple contains around 14gms of carbs - so more than your breakfast and depending upon the variety much of those carbs will be in the form of sugars. I suppose you can think of apples as being a medium carb fruit...

    Prediabetes confusion

OK, so you can eat meat, eggs, cheese the 3 main omnivore foods for controlling/reversing diabetes. Probably cutting down on bread and pasta will be sufficient. How about fish, cauliflower, courgette? -They are all low carb too. Fruit is a bit of a problem when combining your situation with...

    Prediabetes confusion

Hi @Shastus56 and welcome to the forum. The test in the UK for Diabetes is just from an ordinary blood withdrawal sample. They could use the same sample for tests of several things, so unless your read the form you wouldn't know it was being done. The test is HbA1C (often shortened to just...
